So sad this wonderful hotel has been let go. I was fortunate to have had a large comfortable bedroom, nice and warm and very passable. The beds definitely need new mattresses and the bathroom left quite a bit to be desired. Wasn't too clean, empty shampoo bottles left from previous guest. The food was good and plenty of it. The reception area and bars were very cold and uninviting, the big ballroom looked lovely but was very cold. All in all for the money I paid it was a good break. Would have been so much better if it had been warm and inviting.

Couldn’t fault the stay.  Room was spacious, fairly clean so felt at home. Room was airy due to the draft from the window but there’s nothing worse than being hot when sleeping. The constant load notices around 2am didn’t bother me because again I like sleeping with background noise. An added bonus was the cocktail bar within the hotel which offered a wide variety of cocktails including Stella, carling and strongbow.

Stayed for a week on a coach trip to Liverpool.  The architecture of the public rooms is wonderful, high ceilings, chandeliers, classic columns.  It is an old hotel with history but our room was acceptable with a comfortable bed, easy chair, secondary glazing, tea and coffee. The bathroom appeared to have been refurbished recently, instant hot water, large bath with good shower, plenty of towels and toiletries. The dining room is buffet style and both breakfast and dinner had good choices, were hot and available. The hotel is close to the station and an easy stroll to the shops and bars, and on to the waterfront area. The hotel has lots of fuction rooms and this leads to large parties which are noisy in the corridors and create disturbance. All in all as part of a reasonably priced package it is good value and a different experience to a boring chain hotel.

You can tell that once upon a time this hotel was spectacular but it is now very rough around the edges and in desperate need of some TLC. Our room was tiny and didn't even have a ceiling light so when we came in at night it meant fumbling around with our phones to find a lamp, the bed however was comfy and i had a good nights sleep (earplugs recommended). the food was poor but thankfully there are plenty of food options in the immediate area around the hotel.
