Incredible Opportunity To Experience Historical Lisbon
Had the most incredible Sunday brunch here. Something they no longer offer but was fortunate to experience due to the kindness of Sophia at the hotel. Who was as equally charming as the hotel itself. This is most certainly a hidden gem in a city booming with hotels at the moment. What makes this different is that you're in a beautifully restored mansion. The food served was fresh and wonderfully done. Palacete Chafariz felt quite regal and chic at the same time. Will always remember this lovely moment and look forward to another opportunity.

The most over the top accommodation
We sprung for the big suite! It had 3 levels! The observation terrace was worth every penny. This place is bananas and not open to the public. Very private with 1st class service. The decor was delightfully funky while preserving the old world charm.

No request was too big or too small and the staff went out of their way to offer advice, directions and recommendations.

We had breakfast in our room one morning and it was delightful.

Spend the money and get the suite for the views alone!

Lost in time
We stayed for 2 nights in the LOLA suite, and had great time with amazing view on the docks and the Tage.
+: The place is amazing, extremely well located in a very rococo environment. Castle and all down town best spots are walking distance from this very hidden secret place. The breakfast is really excellent.
-: for the price, transit from the airport was not included and we actually waited 1 hours at the airport for our driver. Given the small number of rooms (6) it becomes easily noisy in the night when other guests come in

A Perfect Retreat in Lisbon
Don’t book the Palacete if you are looking for a hotel with roof top pool, or a bar serving expensive cocktails or a Michelin Star restaurant but do go if you want to stay in a stately hotel that is more like an elegant family home, where the staff treat you as friends coming to visit. The guest rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms but it is the “drawing” room and the breakfast rooms that are the piece de resistance and make for the perfect retreat after a day sightseeing. And right at the front door are the cobblestone alleyways of the Alfama with restaurants and bars galore many of them showcasing the famous Fardo music which Portugal is famous for - what more could you ask for?

An experience more than a basic overnight stay
Not one of your standard hotels by some big chain, rather a small stylish apartment hotel with old world charm. Excellent location near the city centre. Big well furnished rooms, well maintained and clean. Huge individually prepared breakfast.

Couple of minor comments: it is somewhat difficult to find it in a narrow back alley, so you better check it on a map before you go; and it is difficult, as in any city centre, to find a parking spot within 100-200 meters from the hotel. Also they did not serve dinner when I was there, but there are other restaurants around.

Many hotels call themselves “boutique”, Chafariz Del Rei as one of few really deserves the title.

Loved This Hotel! Loved Lisbon!
My wife and I stayed here at The Beautiful Palacete Chafariz D’El Rei In August ‘17 for 7 nights after spending one week in Spain! We flew into Lisbon and The Hotel arranged A Car to pick us up at The airport! This Charming Hotel only has 6 rooms and All Suites! Our Suite, Top floor ,Had A very nice comfortable bed and A very nice Bathroom and Great Shower ! There was a separate sitting area also! Our Room faced The River and had A Great Balcony which we loved so much! We were able to enjoy having our Morning Coffee on it ,we also enjoyed later on ,having our Great Portuguese Wine sitting on it as well! The Staff were great and so helpful during our stay! While speaking of our Lovely Balcony and The helpful staff, they also arranged for there to be A Full Moon during our stay!(we didn’t even have to pay extra!).They offered Lovely Breakfasts which we enjoyed very much! They also Had A special table reserved for us each morning! This charming Hotel is located in The Alfama District! There are So many Great Restaurants all so close by! So many great Sights to take in as well! This is also fairly close to The downtown area of Lisbon! Not too far for walking which we did many times! And we just Love Lisbon too! We can Not wait to Return to Both, This Charming with So much Character of A Hotel and Lisbon!Cheers

Amazing, relaxing and charming boutique in a great location
Amazing place to stay in Alfama, Lisbon. Private hotel with only 6 rooms in a perfect location. The staff are friendly, helpful and the entire place is so charming and picture perfect. Very clean, and our junior room suite was delightful with a fab bathroom, and super shower which is key for me in any accommodation. You can get fresh, homemade breakfast served for you at anytime of the day, fresh fruit, juices, coffee on tap..all of it. felt very relaxed and chilled in this hotel which was ideal and i fell in love with the decor. I highly recommend and definitely will be coming back

A fabulous stay in a stylish but relaxed 'private residence'
What an amazing place to stay. A small hotel with the feel of staying in a large private townhouse, elegantly furnished in a relaxed slightly quirky vintage style. Our room was at the front of the building with its own private terrace giving views of the harbour, but there was no traffic noise as the house stands well back from the main road. The staff were incredibly friendly and we were made to feel very much at home. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to return.

A magical stay in a historic home. Just 6 huge rooms with beautiful views, a luxurious home that will take you back. With stained glass windows and palatial dining rooms. The breakfast was also spectacular. There loads of stairs and access to the hotel is not easy, again many stairs, but it really adds to the charm of this hotel. It was relaxing, no one was in a hurry, you felt warm and welcome. I would keep coming back. Very conveniently located near everything.

We supremely enjoyed our stay at the Palacete Chafariz D'El Rei. It is ideally located, overlooking the water and just steps away from the city center, Fado clubs, and fine dining. The room was fantastic. It featured a rooftop where we could sunbathe, an enormous glass-enclosed shower, and lots of natural light. We opened up all the windows and let the fresh air keep us cool at night. But the number one reason to book the D'El Rei is its impeccable service. Javier and Francisco were the most professional and attentive hotel staff we have every encountered in our travels. We will be back for sure

The coolest Hotel ever. An old mansion house with not many rooms and amazing style. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were amazing.
Great location and underground parking is nearby.
Ceiling didn't fall down either.

The hotel is located in a beautiful home built in the early 1900’s and has been maintained and renovated tastefully and yet keeps the same classic charm. Our room was wonderful—it had a large King bed, rain shower head, and full terrace overlooking the river. We enjoyed wine outside each night before dinner. The staff were incredible (Tiago and Xavier were who we interacted with most). We were treated like family, maybe even better than family. Lastly, the hotel breakfast was lovely out on the patio. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Five stars all around.

Been there many years ago. Tres chic!
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in... and I still remember it.
Location is not very central but you are still fast at the front and surrounded by many viewings. But see and go at least ones in your life.

Wonderful stay at Chafariz. The mansion couldn't be in a better location - quiet, slightly off the beaten path, but with Alfama at your doorstep. However, Xavier is who earned this five star review. He provides exceptional service in a kind and professional way, going above and beyond every single day. I truly felt like royalty thanks to him!

I stayed only one night unfortunately.
I organized a fantastic surprise for my girlfriend with a flowers /petals in room and the staff organized everything in an excellent way.
The hotel is beautiful, the room was very comfortable with a fantastic bathtub near the bed.
A word for breakfast too. Just great.
Thank you so much and we will see you there next time.
