Beautiful Hotel in a perfect location
We stayed at Hotel Locarno for 6 nights in February. It was highly recommended to us by friends who visited Rome in December. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is exemplary. We were greeted warmly when we arrived midmorning and the check-in was very efficient. Our room was not yet ready, so we stored our luggage and set off to explore Rome. The front desk staff gave us a map of Rome and suggested several places to visit. Hotel Locarno is an easy walk to the major attractions: Piazza del Popola, Borghese Gardens, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican City. We stayed in a beautiful Junior Suite. It was spacious and had a lovely marble bathroom. The room was immaculately clean throughout our stay. Each morning we had breakfast in the cozy bar. On cold mornings a fire warmed the room. The buffet was comprehensive and the coffee was delicious. Service was impeccable. By the third day, the servers knew our preferences and brought our coffee without being asked. We enjoyed having appetitivo and evening drinks in the bar. Ciara provided excellent service many days and did all the servers and bartenders in the bar. We were very pleased with our stay at Hotel Locarno and will return.

Exceptional experience!
We stayed in the hotel for a weekend and that was an enjoyable experience! Hotel is very authentic, stylish, with a special atmosphere of 1930s and exceptional service. You feel being special in every detail : real door key instead of magnet card, old elevator, beautiful slippers in the room, very attentive staff and great breakfasts!
My fiancée had a birthday 2 days before our visit and we received a bottle of champagne from the hotel to that occasion.
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable staying!
Highly recommended!

Thank you Hotel Locarno!
My and my husband stayed in Locarno hotel for one month and half during the summer 2018. My husband was invited for a Cinema Project and Hotel Locarno knew how to create perfect conditions for him. I am Cinema Director and the stay in Locarno hotel participated to a creation of a new Cinema Project. Here is a part of the letter I wrote to Hotel Locarno's team after out stay:

Our Dearest, Beautiful Staff of Locarno Hotel: Angelica, Lucas, Nino, Fabio, Veronica, Domenico the Chef, Nicolas the Barman, Laura, Dorotha , Eros!
and all other dearest people who became our family!
(I am sorry I dont have all the names belonging to all the beautiful smiling faces).

Thank you so much for such an amazing stay in this beautiful incredible place - Locarno Hotel!

It seems that time has stopped here, there is a filter in the entrance of the hotel, allowing only Positive Energy to enter.

This wonderful place, this museum of Love and Beauty, of Eternity and Elegance, of Respect and Dignity, of Creativity and Inspiration, of Mystery and Spirit,
like the Image of the Owner, Lady Caterina Valente - this Paradise was our first Home in Rome.
And we started a New Life inside it. There, we started to Love Italy, and Rome. And ourselves inside this Life.

We shall never forget it, nor the attentive and generous staff of the Hotel that made our stay like if we were in a Magic Tale.

For me personally, staying in Locarno Hotel was like a Dream. A beautiful project was born here, in the night garden and in that amazing room in the lobby,
with the huge watch that reminds you that time doesn’t really exists.
Thank you so much for creating and preserving this Oasis of Life and Values!
Thank you so much for existing!

Also we will certainly return very often to your incredibly good Bar and Restaurant! Best cocktails in the word and Best Kitchen!

Wish you all the best, so Beautiful People!

Victoria and Herve Schneid.

Stay here!
I’m sure there are other nice hotels in Rome, but this one is special. Get a corner room if you can. It’s quite a lovely hotel, no two rooms are the same. The service is fabulous, bathrooms well appointed and the mini bar starched with unique items you’ll want to take home as souvenirs. My only issue is with the sheets, they were pretty scratchy and hard to sleep in. Although it’s within a stones throw of Piazza Popolo and shopping on Via del Corso, walking distance to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, it’s enough off the beaten path that the street noise is a minimum. It would be nice if the windows were able to be propped open just a small amount for fresh air, the options are fully open or completely locked closed, it was pleasantly warm for December and a little fresh air while sleeping would have been nice. Front desk staff and wait staff were really courteous, check out time is great, noon, so you can go do some sightseeing (I toured the Colosseo) before and get back in time to check out. The food options in the restaurant are adequate, you go for the atmosphere. Anyway, a friend told me I “had to stay at the Locarno” if I were to go to Rome, and I fully agree, it’s where I’ll stay the next time I’m in Rome.

Have been staying at this property for 15 years. Restoration is stunning.
I have been visiting this property in excess of 15 years on business. It is perfectly located for walking to the sites and to my appointments. The front office staff were
enormously helpful in assisting in clearing sales collateral from Customs. Damiano, in particular. The rooms are now much larger, quiet and very tasteful with good housekeeping. Excellent breakfasts, all freshly made. Highly recommend and many of my friends have stayed there on my recommendation. Maggi N

Charming and lively
We stayed at this charming hotel for 2 nights
We received the only hotel room with a balcony, the room was spacious with a cozy design, a large bathroom, and well equipped
The hotel has a vibrant atmosphere and you are right in the middle of things
The location is excellent, 5 steps from Piazza del Popolo, surrounded by many restaurants, cafes, and of course adjacent to Via del Corso, the famous shopping street.
The Hotel Rooftop overlooks its surroundings, and it is pleasant to sit on a sunny day, in summer there is a drinks Bar.
The building is composed of 2 interconnected buildings, and the open space between them at the ground level is a bar, a restaurant, café, that is the center of attention, both for guests and for all who is who in Rome.
It's just a pleasure sitting there
The breakfast is tasty and has a large and beautiful selection.
The entire staff is young, welcoming and gives excellent service

Friendly boutique vibe, great location and outdoor terrace
Only stayed one night here at a rate of about $280 and thought it was great value for the modern comfortable room and impeccable friendly service. They even let us store a ridiculous amount of luggage for 5 nights whilst we headed down to Naples.

They have a stunning patio outdoor area for food and drinks, and they are located close to some great restaurants like Osteria Santa Ana straight opposite.

I stayed in a few other hotels around Rome by way of comparison: Majestic, Splendide and Villa Spatelli. I am a big fan of the Splendide though it can be pricey, but am looking forward to returning to the Locarno as a great alternative in a different part of town.

Charming Hotel full of Character
I loved this hotel from the moment we arrived, the receptionist took our car and parked it safely for the duration of our stay, it wasn't cheap at 45€ per night but the alternatives were not much cheaper and it was one less thing to worry about, the rooms were spacious, comfortable with a huge stunning bathroom.

There was an old-fashioned working lift and other quirky items dotted around the place, there was a lovely courtyard garden where you can enjoy a selection of cocktails from the bar.

The hotel is in a good position for all the sights and plenty of restaurants

Charming hotel with excellent, professional staff and convenient location
My husband, teenaged daughter and I spent 5 nights in a junior suite at Hotel Locarno in early August 2018. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was professional and attentive. The desk staff escorted us to our room, showed us how everything worked and made sure everything was acceptable. The room was lovely and spacious, and best of all, had powerful air conditioning, as the temperature was about 90 degrees! The room had beautiful wood floors, elegant furnishings (our daughter's bed was a beautifully upholstered chaise with a twin mattress) and lots of marble in the bathroom. The bathroom had two sinks in the center room, a toilet and bidet in a side room, and a very large rainfall shower on the opposite side. The Hotel's location is very convenient with many sites within easy walking distance, or a short cab ride. (We used the MyTaxi app, which was very convenient for hailing cabs at any location.) We especially loved the garden courtyard dining area. We ate lunch there twice (limited menu but very tasty) and had pre-dinner drinks there just about every night. Drinks are served with olives and chips, which is a nice touch. There also is a lovely rooftop deck with bar; when we were there, it was deserted, possibly due to the extreme heat. Highly recommend it, and looking forward to returning for two more nights at the end of our trip!

I don’t normally write reviews but felt compelled to say what an excellent stay my wife and I had. The hotel isn’t modern but is traditional and classy..everything is spotless. The highlight is the friendly, warm and helpful greeting we got from all members of staff…nothing was too much trouble and the service was very quick. And this isn’t just a tourist hotel….the garden bar was full of chic locals every night giving pre-evening drinks a very authentic ambiance. It was too cold to sit at the rooftop bar…but this would have been perfect in the spring or summer. We’d be happy to return and would recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed at Hotel Locarno for 4 nights recently and had a fantastic experience. Rooms were very comfortable and clean, location was perfect. What makes Locarno stand out amongst hotels is the incredible service and attention to detail - probably the best we’ve had! Will definitely stay there again next time we are in Rome.

Hotel Locarno is absolutely beautiful! We hada wonderful stay, everyone was so kind and attentive! Our kids were made to feel very welcome, they loved the huge bathtub and complimentary cakes and croissants for breakfast (breakfast in general was very good!), and us parents very much appreciated the excellent bar! We will be back!

Description

Location
The hotel is wedged between the river and Villa Borghese park in the Tridente district. It is within staggering distance of Piazza del Popolo’s timeless Rosati aperitif bar and next door’s stellar Dal Bolognese restaurant. Thanks to encouragement by the hotel’s owner, Caterina Valente, the street is full of independent shops and artisans including hat-makers and perfumers. It’s 100 metres from the Tiber, 800 metres from the Spanish Steps and two kilometres (1.2 miles) from the Vatican.

Rooms
Rooms, opened with a tasselled key, have lofty ceilings and are all unique, some with a balcony or terrace. The most opulent are fit for princelings, with carved wooden or brass bedsteads, silk or gold-leaf walls, frescos and mahogany panelling. Others are less grand but equally personal with Persian rugs, books reached by a library ladder and trunks as coffee tables. Despite the history, the hotel more than meets the highest modern levels of comfort, with beds that swallow you whole, phones you can walk around with and speakers in bathrooms. Minibars are gift-worthy, with grappa in a hipflask, ammaro and liquorice in beautiful traditional tins.

Food & drink
Breakfast includes à la carte eggs and coffee, plus a small buffet and freshly squeezed juices. Dinner at the restaurant, meanwhile, offers a choice of prawn and salmon ceviche with mango sauce, Roman fish and chips, Cacio & Pepe macaroni with Mazzara del Vallo shrimps and crispy bacon, and tuna kebab with wasabi mayonnaise.

The bar is one of the best in town, with a mixologist formerly from Buddha Bar Paris knocking up cocktails such as the signature Roma Bracciano, with Campari and vermouth, Earl Drunk, and tea-infused vodka served in a teapot.
