Classy hotel centrally located
Lovely hotel next to Stadtpark within walking distance of all the main attractions in central Vienna City. Impressive exterior and lobby area with classy bar area great for spending time at night after exploring during the day or when waiting for transports. We stayed in the classic room booked through Hotels.com. The room was cosy and clean, with enough space for 2 people, overlooking the park. Bathroom was slightly small, with the door almost hitting the toilet when fully open. The shower was over a bathtub with a non-slip mat provided. Stayed here in the middle of January.

Classic centrally located hotel
The hotel has an excellent location opposite the beautiful Stadtpark and across the road from the metro station. It is also centrally located a short walk from the Old Town and near the Weiner Konzerthaus with Karlsplatz metro station just one stop away. Between the hotel and the Konzerthaus is an open space which hosts an ice-rink in the winter and transforms into a beach area (Sand in the City) featuring a wide variety of restaurants and bars in the summer months.

The hotel has a wide variety of dining options - Café Vienna in the lobby serves an excellent high tea and snacks during the day and you can enjoy drinks in the evening in the Intermezzo bar with live music. The large Parlor restaurant serves an excellent International Buffet breakfast and has an excellent menu for dinner.

The concierge is excellent and can book tickets to performances and tours around Vienna. Renata at the reception staff was very helpful.

The hotel has a classic deco with heavy wood paneling and huge chandeliers in the lobby and will appeal to the more classically inclined. It is also pretty busy and gets full pretty fast. So make sure to book well in advance.

Overall, this is one of the best places to stay in Vienna and is highly recommended.

Decent but need some improvements

Stayed here for five nights for business. They upgraded me to the club floor due to me platinum elite status. Nice touch.

However room had a funny smell from toilet so they moved me to a deluxe room on the same floor. Along with a box of chocolates. Nice! Very kind.

However during my stay their WiFi crashed once. No tele for most of last night and his am. This is not something I expect from a five star hotel. The hotel reminds me a grand old lady. Seen better days and need from tender loving care!

Breakfast was quite chaotic due to large number of conference attendees. However they serve congee and miso soup. Amazing.

Unbelievable stay
What can I say, The Intercontinental is the Intercontinental. Starting with the minute we entered, we were treated like royalty. The front desk service was friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful with a view overlooking the ice skating down below. We had a wonderful surprise when entered our room, they had a swan of towels and roses on our bed and a piece of cake and bottle of sparkling water on the table. I guess it's worth it to mention if you have a special occasion, it was our anniversary.
They definitely made the occasion special.

Exceptional stay!!!
We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed every bit of it. We were allotted all our rooms close by and were comfortable
The hotel is centrally located
We had a Park close by for our morning walk. My children enjoyed cycling around it while my husband and I walked.
The morning breakfast was delicious and very well laid. The restaurant staff was wonderful and prompt. I enjoyed the selection of tea that was there. They had a special take away counter.
The travel desk was really good and recommended the places that we should visit. They were also very prompt and quick.
We had a wonderful stay here

New Years Stay
Amazing property with some real old-world charm. The entrance is grand and adorned with wood and gold.

Check-in was quite easy, however, there was a wait for our room. Given the time of year, and the occupancy was at capacity, we were given access to our room shortly after 3pm - so not too bad. We were also given an upgrade at check-in which made the wait a little bit more bearable.

The room was spacious with a good view of the buildings across the street. The bed and pillows were comfortable, however I did have to call for firmer ones, as that's my preference.

The bathroom was well appointed with amenities and towels. I was not a fan of the shower curtain - this really does contribute to making the hotel look a lot more dated - I think it's time for an update.

Rooms were cleaned promptly and thoroughly every day, and room service was quick and fresh.

A highlight of this stay was the day after new years when I discovered that they have a free movie channel with a great selection of films - perfect if you're recovering from a night out!

We were also graciously given a discount on a phone call we had to make back to Australia regarding some banking issues - it was originally a 230euro bill, which they did deduct a significant amount from; we didn't ask for it, the lady at check-out took it upon herself to help us out - thank you!

Definitely recommend this hotel if you're in town. We'll definitely be back!

Great Staff, Great Lobby
The Lobby, the staff, the club lounge, are all wonderful in this hotel.
The front desk staff could't give us our room until 6 PM, but that was due to the high season (we arrived the 29 of Dec.).
The lobby cafe takes you back in time to Vienna 19 century.
The Staff in the club lounge made us feel very welcomed, especially Mrs. Marinkovic who made sure that we had a great stay.
The hotel is very close to downtown and when the weather is nice, you can walk there.
The only problem i had was with the bed, my bed was making noise, i told them to change it if possible but they couldn't, they tried to fix it.

Pleasant stay. Recommended
We had a one night stay in late July. They made special arrangement for our special occasion, and it was so sweet. We were also upgraded to a junior studio. The decoration was very warm and nice The hotel was a bit dated but still well managed.

Despite all of that, there were several issues that could be improved. We tried to ordered some milk but was only given creamer. And the service line seemed not understanding what is ''milk'' in English.... There guest service server understood very little German and almost none for English, which was not expected to me as an Intercontinental. The check in check out were both very slow and the lobby was always noisy. Three of four times I visited the lobby, there was someone leading a group and spoke really loadly. Also the hotel has several steps at the front door but the bellman was not willing to help bringing upstairs the luggage from the ground, at least for my case.

We also had breakfast at the hotel. A lot of choices, more than excellent. Their restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner when we visited, which limited the choices of meals. We had to have dinner and lunch at the cafe. The cafe was in general well decorated. It was a nice dinner, but during the lunch at 2pm the next day, we were told the three nice tables were reserved, and they refused to let us sit there. But until we left after lunch, no one had came and sat on either of them for even a second, which is rather disappointing. The food itself was quite delicious and the dessert "Mozart" and "Sacher" was very special and definitly worth a try.

In general, it was a memorably wonderful stay. We recommend this hotel and we would definitely be back in the future.

Old style Austrian Hotel
Whilst this hotel is obviously dated the interior decor with the fantastic chandeliers and furniture typify old style Vienna. The hotel is immaculately clean and the staff cannot do enough for you. It is in a great location for the town centre. We ate in The Parlour Restaurant and ate excellent food. It isn't cheap but then it did save us going out in the blizzard like conditions outside. The warm and comfortbale sauna and steam in the basement helped warm us up. For those of a nervous disposition swimwear is not allowed but that said there weren't many people using the facility. Robes, slippers and towels provided.

Rooms need to be revamped!
My spouse and I went for a 3 day trip to Vienna and stayed at Intercontinental Vienna.
The service and staff – Intercontinental standard – great!
The hall and frontdesk – intercontinental standard - great!
Rooms – not intercontinental standard. This was a disappointment. The rooms are small with old fashioned decoration. The bathrooms with old taps and equipment. Example: the bathtub still has cloth curtains, while I believe that we should have instead a nice-looking temperate glass protection – need to be improved urgently.
Although the context and atmosphere didn’t let us down, we can’t say the same about the rooms, and because of it we feel that the rates applied are somewhat high for what you get.

We stayed here last week for 3 days using our IHG points. We’re pleasantly surprised that we were upgraded to a junior suite ! We’ve never experienced that here in the US.
The service was exceptional from the bell service to the front desk from the check in to the checkout.
Our room was huge being a corner room. You have two amazing views of the city. It has its own changing room, the bathroom has sauna/shower aside from the huge bathtub.
The room comes with a Nespresso coffee maker, boiling pot and mini refrigerator. Did I mention all the contents of the mini refrigerator was complimentary!
The location was also ideal as it was right across the Stadtpark station so its only few stops away from Stephenplatz and major locations.
We would definitely come back here on our next trip to Vienna.

Very central hotel, close to the historic center, the opera, etc.... In front of the train station and the city park. Very friendly staff. Very clean and cozy, with everything you need for your comfort, to put a downside is that for my taste the pillow is a little low, otherwise it is a great hotel. A detail is that in the TV of the room has chromecast, a plus to your comfort

Stayed there in my young days, 1968, had fond memories. So we booked for our visit to Vienna after being locked down for nearly 2 years. Welcome at reception VERY smooth and friendly, room ready at 10 (we moved from another hotel so were in town early), helped to make most of that day as well. Room first impressions good, got great view of Park, 905. People go on about renovation may be needed but no spot on carpet, walls etc. Bathroom admittedly bit small, but enough if the two in room take turns, and single person would have more than enough space anyway. Hallway, Bar really has lovely atmosphere. Breakfast very nice, especially with superfriendly Vesna at reception there. I always enjoy a sauna/steamroom after pounding the pavement sightseeing all day, and time unitl dinner or theatre is wasted otherwide. Facilities superb, also gym, though nobodey used that. Special mention also to Doorman Nedjo, another superfriendly feature in this hotel, still there after 30 years and smiling

Comfortable with Old School Charm
I do travel quite a lot but haven't been able to get myself into a discipline of leaving out reviews which would help other travellers. Hoping to change that from now on :-)
Intercontinental Vienna has this nice old school charm. There's something about this place which reminds of an elegant charm of the bygone era. Many of the reviewers have listed how the hotel looks old and dated....to be fair that's partly true but it grows it's charm on you....Thanks to it's wonderful staff.
Almost everyone that we came across from the time we checked in at 3 AM in the morning to our checkout was good hearted and service was excellent. The staff from the lobby cafe was exceptionally good at her work and so was the guy working at the bar. His energy was insane and he would bring our orders to us speedily always ensuring that what we needed was made available at the soonest.
The bed was comfortable and the amenities were well appointed. We were staying for a special occasion and they had kept a cake for us in our room.
The only thing that I would wish for is for the breakfast to have a little more options especially if they could have other international options as well since a lot of Non-Europeans also stayed at the property.
And I hope they do retain their old school charm after renovation.
Thanks Team Intercontinental!!

A wonderful hotel in the center of Vienna
I have been staying at the Intercontinental Vienna for many years, and have seldom encountered such good service in any hotel in the world. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and like being at home. The location is absolutely ideal, across the street from the beautiful Stadtpark and the metro, you can walk to everything in the city centre from here. The hotel is beautifully maintained and fully worthy of a luxury hotel. It is always a pleasure to stay here!

A good hotel, great location but rooms/facilities could do with updating
Liked - The location is good, a 10 min stroll into the centre of town. We had a lovely view of Stadtpark and I paid extra to get a higher level room for the view. A brilliant breakfast. Very helpful staff in reception. Luxurious public areas downstairs. Free wifi.
Disliked - The outside of the hotel looks pretty dreadful but the luxurious public areas downstairs make up for it. The room was ok in size but the bathroom was tiny, although fully functioning. Our room was on the 10th floor and you could still hear the traffic outside so be prepared to keep your windows shut. TV in room - ok if you like watching the news in English as there was only one other channel that had spoken English - perhaps the hotel could consider adding a cable/satellite channel to cater for the large number of English speaking guests. Our room was cleaned daily but unfortunately the cleaner took our drinking glasses away after the first day. A minor point but irritating nonetheless. Decor dated and room facilities in need of updating, e.g. add a socket by the bed so guests can charge their phones.

Great location with overall very attentive staff and superb breakfast
Liked - Excellent location to start exploring the city, U-bahn and Stadtpark in front of the hotel. Nice room, although not very big, but with great views.
Superb breakfast with a wide variety, kind and attentive staff especially the lady at the breakfast reception.
Overall, the staff was very kind and attentive eg doormen, reception at check-in therefore shame that check-out was not up to the same standard (unwilling lady with an attitude).

Description

Location
Less than 300 metres south of Vienna’s compact historic centre, the InterContinental towers over the bushy and verdant Stadtpark, the inner city’s best option for an early morning stroll or jog. Immediately behind the hotel you’ll find Vienna’s classy concert hall (Wiener Konzerthaus), which is separated from the InterContinental by an open-air ice-skating ring that in summer is covered with sand, creating a hip urban beach with deckchairs, bars and food stalls.

Rooms
There’s a classic, restrained elegance to the spacious rooms which, again, have a slightly retro ambience redolent of a classic Sean Connery-era James Bond film. There are dark wooden dressers, floral designs on the carpets, beige and cream wallpaper, lived-in leather sofas and tan lamp shades that are shaped like drums. But the facilities are right up to date, with easily accessible Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations and espresso machines. The upper floors have a complimentary concierge service and the top-floor suites are large enough to get lost in.

Food & Drink
The recently renovated Parlor Restaurant is a breezy and perky hang-out decorated with black and white stripes and brightly coloured throne-like alcove “love seats".
We aim beyond the obvious, turning our attention to thoughtful touches and pleasant surprises. A superb guest room plus breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening drinks in our exclusive Club InterContinental lounge are all part of your experience. Club InterContinental - it's in the details
