Great Location
My mom, sister, and I came to Stockholm and had two separate bedrooms, which was perfect. The rooms aren't big, but were sufficient enough for our stay, and we had lovely views of the harbor. The concierge is great here, they were able to recommend a lot of great restaurants and were very helpful with everything. The location is also perfect... it's in a central location of the city and walking distance to Gamla Stan. If we ever come back to Stockholm we'll definitely be staying at the Diplomat again!

Excellent service in a slice of Stockholm history
I was in Stockholm for a week of business travel and could not have been happier. The Diplomat staff show great attention to detail, learn to recognize and greet you nad are always willing to help with every detail of your stay. They ordered taxis, the concierge made dinner reservations and shopping suggestions. The location is ideal, in between the business district and the museums, and close to Gamla Stan.

The hotel has a great "old world" vibe but yet the bars attract a very glamorous set. The rooms are immaculate and they seemed stocked with whatever you need, including robes, slippers, umbrellas, sewing kits, ironing boards and universal adapters. The mini bar (yes! - a hotel with a mini bar!) was well stocked. No coffee maker in the room bu the small coffee shop attached to the hotel was perfect for a coffee and pastry on the go (the lunch and weekend dinner looked good too) . My only small issue was that the desk in the room was a bit too small for a business traveler to work on regularly, though it was serviceable.

The restaurant was great, as was the cocktail bar.

The key test - would I stay there again? In a heartbeat.

Very attentive staff and great breakfast
This hotel is really nicely located, directly at the lake front and next to the theatre. Also the opera and the concert hall are within 15min walking distance, as well as several museums. The reception has a small map with running routes which was very helpful and the running trail I chose led about 50% through forest/park which was also very nice and exception for a city center based hotel. Stockholm is simply a city so close to water and green nature that one has to benefit from it.
The breakfast gave me the best possible start with an incredible choice of muesli, fresh fruit, bread, eggs etc. And opening hours on the weekend until 11am are just right for me as it allows me to be sportive, shower and then enjoy a breakfast without rushing.
The sauna can be booked for an hour at the reception and I had the whole retreat area for myself as I booked it in the evening. That was superbe. I just would have wished to quiet down the music - same in the gym. But that was the only non-perfect aspect within three days :)
The best experience of all was for me going to bed as the bed sheets are so super soft ... I never experienced that ever before in any hotel. Big thank you for that.
All in all, I will definitely come back when I am in Stockholm again.

Lovely couple of days, delightful hotel
My daughter and I have just returned from Stockholm where we spent a lovely couple of days at Hotel Diplomat.

The hotel is warm and friendly and very well situated. We walked everywhere and we were lucky enough to have idyllic snow pre-Christmas.

We paid for a sea view and it was SPECTACULAR - even with a winter visit the scenery was so beautiful. Afternoon tea and breakfast in the hotel were lovely and the food was a high standard.

The hotel room was on the smaller side, with a functional (but spotlessly clean) bathroom. The bathroom was my only disappointment as in a 5 star hotel I would have expected more style and quality.

The staff were polite and friendly. The evening bar staff were brilliant and served us drinks with a lovely smile and humour. At breakfast the staff were more reserved and slower but still very willing to help.

We left on the 24thDecember so it was Christmas in Sweden and the hotel entered into the spirit with good fun. Even Santa was sitting by the fire when we got up.

A truly lovely hotel.

A perfect lunch
Despite arriving at one on a Saturday, a challenge, we were given a supernicd table by the bar. The restaurant was filled with shoppers and brunchers, the dj played a lot of soul from the 70ies, wonderful and not disturbing. I had the meatballs with a well tasting draft ale. Meatballs, the national dish, can be just about anything. These were perfect and came with pressed cewcumber and rawstirred lingonberries. The mashed potatoes and the gravey, everything just as it should be. My wife had a generous shrimp sallad and a non alcohol beer. We landed on a hefty Eur 60, but it was good and the only English speaking (we are in Sweden) was attentive and fun. Toilets are just ok.
The restaurant is located in the lobby with a fire place crackling. Christmas tree. View over the inner harbour. Stockholm is wonderful like this, even when grey.

Lovely Stockholm stay
We stayed at this lovely well located hotel for only night pre-cruise. We arrived late after a long flight from the US and did not have the opportunity to explore the hotel at all. Our room was quite small and very cramped with little space for our luggage. We had to move some of the furnishings just to make it manageable. I take the blame for not checking on the room size before booking. The rooms were nicely appointed and the bathroom very nice and up to date. Breakfast was fantastic with a large buffet selection. I would definitely recommend this hotel but choose another room category that would afford a bit more space.

Perfect for a city break in Stockholm
We stayed here for a city break for three nights and everything about it was just perfect! Every single member of staff we dealt with was polite, friendly and super helpful – especially Aneta on Reception and William the Concierge who booked us some great restaurants and organised all our excursions for us. The location is ideal, the breakfast was delicious and the two bars in the hotel were both lovely. Sadly the spa was under refurbishment when we visited (we would have appreciated this being mentioned on the website in advance but it wasn’t a major issue). The room was small, but very quiet and great value for such a brilliant location, and it was spotlessly clean. The futuristic toilet with water jets was an interesting bonus! We’d definitely stay here again, I can’t say enough good things about the service!

Old world charm
We recently stayed here with several friends and colleagues. The hotel is older but very elegant. Be careful as many of the floors have a step or two to get to your room so it isn't handicapped friendly. However.. the staff is amazingly friendly! The concierge / bellman are all excellent. Maxwell is amazing as is Issac. They took amazing care of one of party throughout our stay. They simply made everything better. The food was excellent as well. The location could not have been better.

We had the most fantastic experience, from the very first impression at Diplomat hotel. A warm welcoming by the very friendly receptionist, to the attentiveness and smile of the doormen. The charm of the luxurious spacious room and magical view we had nothing sort of 6stars. We enjoyed the professionalism and gracefulness of all the staff at the restaurant and food and cocktails exceeded all our expectations., It was a truly memorable stay, Highly recommend to anyone visiting Stockholm.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding here and we come back every October for our anniversary. Last year, I think they upgraded us free of charge and the staff and the hotel was amazing as. always. Upon entering you just feeel that this is a classy place. It smells yummy and feels warm and the reception will do just about anything so that you feel seen and taken care of. The beds are heaven, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is a candlelit delight. Did I mention the views? Can we move in? Yes it’s a bit expensive but worth every penny. Can’t wait for autumn! Love this place.

Absolut gem of a hotel. Beautiful designed retreat that manages to innovate while still preserving the amazing decor and historical architecture. The staff is very friendly and surpassed expectation we had, managing to solve every problem and needs that occurred during our stay. Room switch, reservations, special needs and dietary restrictions- they did a amazing job on every task. The quality of the food is also amazing and fairly priced within these perimeters. Definitely looking forward to come back soon.

We went there for afternoon tea with a friend who's very anglophile. Even by her standards the afternoon tea was a success! The different variants of tea were delicious - for me as a mainly coffee person and for the two tea drinkers in the party. They served lovely scones and sandwiches and entire 4 sweet desserts. The staff was very friendly and helpful and not a bit snobbish despite the rather fancy place. I highly recommend it.
