Hotel Astória Coimbra

We stayed here two nights. Its a very old fashioned hotel but very nicely kept. The room was lovely, with nice views over the river and bridge. Situated in the very center of Coimbra the location is ideal. Very happy with our stay.

The outside building is beautiful as well as the view. Rooms are bigger enough, nevertheless there is a lack of maintainance, rugs are too old creating an unhealthy environment with a  bit of humidity.  Its a pitty, they dont invest in this old but nice place. The staff is really kind and very helpful.

The staff takes such great pride in the vintage details. Preservation at it's finest. Other hotels could take a lesson. The room has everything you need, sort of. The wifi doesn't reach the 4th floor. And the water pressure is a little low. But the room is nice.

I wanted to love this place. Service was wonderful but the room was not comfortable. The bed was not comfortable , pillows lumpy. If only they could get new carpeting, crisp clean sheets, better pillows.  Also we were given a room facing the University and with the students chanting very late into the night, we could not sleep. Please try to restore this beautiful old hotel to its former glory!
