Scandic Pohjanhovi

Well we stayed here for last two days of our trip. I loved watching the sunrise mountains and frozen river what a combination. That was the best part of the hotel. I also liked to have breakfast here by the snowy river. That was really magical for me taking walks at night by the river, on the snowy nights and so magical it was. The bus stops are right in front of the hotel to the Santa Claus village and to the airport as well. Very flexible. I didn’t fall in love with the interiors of the hotel because the moment I entered in the room I didn’t get a hotel vibe. Interiors were too old and kind of vintage. I personally like good lights at least in the bathroom but there wasn’t enough light in the bathroom and the room was almost very dark with the wood lamps. Bathroom was so dark, shower curtains were smelly.I don’t know but there was some different smell all over the hotel. Please provide kettle in every room no matter what standard the room is,that’s the very basic necessities especially in cold countries. There is hot water at the reception but think about carrying it up to the room if it’s an immediate need.

Pretty nice hotel to stay in the city centre and nearby the river. The staff is really nice and charming. The restaurant offers different type of buffet food, which is quite good and varied. However, the rooms are a bit tight for 2 people and the decoration is a bit old -fashioned. It has sauna and swimming pool but it only opens in the afternoon.

Excellent location in Rovaniemi. We stayed in a very nice room in the main building with a beautiful view of the river. Staff is very nice, especially Juuli who is awesome, smiling and friendly all the time even after a long day at work. The pool is somewhat heated, not warm but ok if you actually swim. I loved that the pool and sauna are open till 10 pm. Saunas are separate for men and women. I think they should have towels available at the pool, but you can ask reception and they will give you a towel. The reason I am giving a 4 star review instead of 5 stars is because in my opinion they could offer more options at meals. There was not an omelette station , that’s understandable considering that many groups stay in this hotel, but unfortunately the scrambled eggs were not very tasty each day (perhaps somewhat undercooked). Every evening french fries were available, I think they should have more family friendly options such as pizza or pasta for the younger guests. Many of the kids in our group preferred to eat out because the didn’t like the food very much. On the positive side, there was a salad bar at all meals and deserts. This hotel is a very good option when visiting Lapland, in the center with pubs, restaurants, and shopping very close , and of course the beautiful river. The dining room offers beautiful views of the river.

Excellent hotel and location near city center and the river, tasty and rich breakfast and dinner, good service, nice sauna and cold water pool. The room was comfortable (some issues with hot water).
