So/ great!
After an adventurous check in (our initial reservation was cancelled as our broker has gone bankrupt) we decided to insist on staying in this hotel and we were proven right.
We have stayed in a std. room, white design, on the Ferris Wheel side. Although I have only seen the other room types in pics, I think that the setup of these white rooms were the best, providing light and an increased sense of relaxation.
The location was ideal and of course the roof top terrace was astonishing. Well enjoyed breakfasts of suburb quality (benedict eggs were top!) but with rather limited variety and rather slow buffet refills.
Special thanks to Soichiro Abe for making this stay possible.

Classy, modern (and clean!) hotel with amazing views, friendly staff, great amenities!
My mom, sister and I stayed at the Sofitel during a trip to Vienna in May and had absolutely loved the hotel! I cannot recommend this hotel more for the rooms, amenities, views, and staff! The hotel is in a great location, central to all of the main destinations.

The rooms are very modern and fun to play with — we had some laughs trying to figure out how to work some of the things in the hotel! The view from our room was breathtaking and gave us a look at the whole city. Even better was the food and the view from the breakfast buffet on the top floor. You can see a complete panoramic view of the city through floor to ceiling windows. The breakfast was included in our stay and featured a wide assortment of pastries, yogurts, cheeses, smoothies, fresh made juices, and more.

On top of all of this, the staff was what truly made our visit at the Sofitel the best of all our hotels in Europe. They were so friendly and chatty, welcoming us in and asking about our day every time we returned to the hotel. My mom was experiencing some health issues during the trip and they were so attentive, helping her locate a doctor that could come to the hotel for a visit. I could not recommend the Sofitel anymore!

SO/ PERFECT
Dear So Vienna Team,

We stayed at your hotel from the 24 January 2019 for 3 nights, and we had an amazing time in Vienna, thank to all the So/Vienna team.
If we could grade this stay it would be 11 out of 10! Oliver from the reservation helped us make the booking, he gave us all the necessary information concerning the rooms.
Then we had the pleasure to meet and talk with Victor the city guru, that was just so kind and gave us some nice place to visit in Vienna. At the check in Mohamed was very efficient and welcomed us perfectly (in a fluent French!) he gave us all the important information we needed.
We had the chance as well to have a perfect dinner at Das Loft, thanks to Antonio we had a table by the window and Sara was really efficient during the dinner and she provide a high quality service, then Miguel recommended for us a perfect bottle of red wine.
We also want to say as well a big thank you for the rooms service team and the house keeping! We will keep a very nice memory of Vienna and the SO hotel, and we are pretty sure to come back in a few years.

PS: the view from the room was Breathtaking !

One of the best in town. Trendy for sure
I have visited the place once more and really loved it. I am a vienna regular visitor since 1981 and since then have stayed in many places all over the city. There are many nice hotels in the city but this is a trendy one, totally white shiny rooms with fantastic wifi and ergonomic rooms. You can find everything in just few sq metres with unbelievable space for ones stuff and plugs everywhere in the room. It is truly a 2019 technology hotel covering the needs of a modern resident. The hotel is just 5-6’ walk from stephansplatz, near the river and the scwedenplatz u-bahn covering all needs. It is close to a number of interesting restaurants and bars. On top floor Das Loft is a place used for breakfast and at night works as a top restobar. The view is fantastic and unforgettably unique. The hotel is strongly recommended as one of the best in town. Maybe the most trendy one !

Best view in Vienna
Hotel is perfectly situated on the Danube with spectacular views into and across the city center. The walk to Stephansdom is a mere 10 minutes right into the heart of the city center, or it’s just a quick walk across the bridge to the easy to use underground system. My room was on the 11th floor with a city view which was spectacular at all hours of the day. The room was quite large for European standards, exceptionally clean, and with comfortable chairs to lounge. I paid for the breakfast inclusion which was well worth it as breakfast is provided on the 18th floor well above the city with 360 views of Vienna. I rate a 4 rather than 5 as I was unimpressed with the dinner at the hotel restaurant which is Michelin 1 rated. I’ve had numerous better quality and tasting meals in New York. I would not waste your time on dinner, but instead go for drinks in t(e evening to get things started. Your date will be inspired by the views.

Very nice boutique hotel BUT very poor service!
To tell you the truth I stayed 3 nights and the first night I would have given 5 stars!
The location is great with walking distance to the old town.
I love the style of the hotel and the furniture, be it in the lobby or the rooms!
The bar is just fantastic with a great view and a good atmosphere.
BUT and yes BUT the service is very poor, especially for such a hotel and this is why I gave only 2 stars in the end!
When you cross the lobby and pass by the reception which is literally in the middle of the lobby nobody says hello to you or even look at you (although there are always 4 or 5 employees!).
The staff at the reception, at the bar and at the breakfast is very rude, very direct, even aggressive and they never ever smile...
They should all go to a customer training or even a multi cultural training...
It’s a real pity as I really love that hotel!!!

A modern take on a luxury hotel
As a sub-brand of Sofitel SO/ offers a new take on luxury 5 star hotel accommodation so you have a lovely reception, big rooms and a spa. The rooms are all decorated in a monochrome colour scheme; grey or white, this sounds weird but does work. The beds are very big and comfortable. Take a room on the cathedral side if you can as the views are so much better but don’t worry too much as breakfast is served on the 18th floor in Das Loft with amazing views of the whole city.

We originally had room 1710 which being a corner room is slightly bigger and has better views than other rooms in its class but because it is just below Das Loft the music (particularly the bass) being played from the bar above leaks through at night. The bar doesn’t close until about 0200 - 0230. After some discussion with reception we moved rooms and staff admitted they were aware of the problem and tried to not put people on the 17th floor especially at the weekend. They did make up for the mistake though.

We found all the staff lovely, polite and helpful.

Was soll ich sagen?

Vielen Dank!!

I love comfort, but I maybe took big chunk booking Lofty. Apartment is really waste. Still I have missed a desk and to work I had to use dining table. Desk would be great addition. That space would also provide more sockets, as placement now is quite limited and one must pull cables here and there. Lightning in living room is also modest. And it takes time to get used to way how switches work. From this point not best option to book for business trip.
Room deserves also some general cleaning, peanuts found in sofa, dust behind bed.
Other than that, place was lively and welcoming. Was surprised about number of people around and great atmosphere.
Staff needs to pay more attention on details, in this kind of hotel I expect better service. I spent time at reception upon my arrival despite I did online check in, what was not noticed by lady on duty. Check out was without issue.
Booked table in restaurant only to find later that window tables are only available to book online. Keep this in mind :) if you plan to have dinner.
Breakfast was ok.
Again it comes to staff, which seems to lack training and confidence.

Dinner was also mediocre, taste great but was not top. I suggested to Chef include more vegetables to be served with meat courses.
Better wine for steak (pairing) could be selected. I understand it`s great to promote local but did not help to have French whites and Austrian red when I believe decent whites are found around Austria and great meat would deserve better wine.
Keep in mind booking Spa ahead, it`s been busy.

Outstanding and delightful
We felt very welcome during our stay at SO/Vienna. The room was spacious and tidy and included a bathtub! The bed was comfy which allowed us to get a good night’s rest. The entire hotel has a modern look with excellent fitness facilities. Customer service was good, but missed a personal touch and a dress code. Flexible breakfast times (especially in the weekend) with an amazing view over the city. The food was delicious.
5 stars, especially for cleanliness, location and design.

THE best hotel in Vienna with no doubt
Liked - I really don’t know from where to start:
staff was amazing: at the reception, the security staff, at the bar and at the entire hotel.
breakfast was simply amazing- best breakfast I’ve ever had at a hotel. the rooms were super clean and with amazing view of the city center, the location was perfect!
this is simply one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed- from the kind and helpful staff (that asked me every morning how was my sleeping), through the rooftop bar with the amazing view and to the tidy and big rooms. must say the value for money was extremely good.
I would be definitely come back again soon.
Disliked - everything was PERFECT

Liked - Unique view from the loft! Modern designer room fully equipped to the last detail. Perfect location on the exact center right on the canal, easily reaching everything on foot.
Disliked - I wish I had more time, stayed just for two nights. Can't wait to come back again!
