Hotel Grand Ferdinand Vienna

I was a bit disappointed if I am honest in terms of the hotel. It’s rated 5* and I felt it fell short in a couple of areas.
The positives:
- great central location
- stunning suite on the 7th floor, vary spacious, lovely balcony, comfy bed and nice toiletries
- cool boutique vibe and great cocktails of an evening
- stunning location on the 8th floor for breakfast
The negatives:
- very noisy from the road which gave a disturbed nights sleep
- at breakfast on Sat and Sun the staff were utterly overwhelmed. It was chaotic, nothing arrived on time or correctly and the buffet looked like a swarm of locusts has descended
- the breakfast staff on the weekend were so overwhelmed that it affected their politeness, it wasn’t 5* service at all
- three of our lights didn’t work, despite reporting this they didn’t resolve the issue for us
- no turn down service

Lovely accommodation!
Liked - We really enjoyed the view from the rooftop terrace. Our room was equipped with many pretty little details. The food at Grand Etage was very delicious. The staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful.
Disliked - The pool was definitely not heated as shown on the website, it was so cold that you couldn’t really swim. Also some off the staff at breakfast was very rude to us. We would’ve wished for more hospitality and kindness like it is typically for Vienna. And we received wrong orders for breakfast at least seven times or were forgotten completely. Also the staff at breakfast is very hectically and you feel like you better not disturb them with ordering something, etc. Clearly there is potential for improvement.

Liked - Great location in the heart of Vienna. Lovely decor downstairs and in the breakfast restaurant. The service was very nice, the breakfast was very varied. On the ground floor there is a great restaurant specializing in Viennese schnitzels. I recommend.
Disliked - Room decor quite unusual, wash basin in the room and shower right next to the bed ... We stayed one night and that's OK, but for a longer stay it wouldn't be comfortable.

Liked - For my 1 night stay, the room was comfortable, location was good as only 25 minutes from the airport and breakfast was also very good and value for money, staff were friendly and very helpful.
Disliked - I paid for the late checkout, but twice had cleaners wanting to know why I was still in my room, this was very annoying. The chair at the desk needed a cushion to make it more comfortable.
