This Hotel urgently needs a complete refurbishment.
Stayed here in Jan 19.
The location is superb and the building and lobby are historic.
That's where it ends.
1. The furniture in the room is ancient. Trying to pass off as antique. But not doing a good job.
2. Room was freezing on arrival as Chambermaid left the window open. It took an hour to warm up.
3.bed was supposed to be king size. Instead it was two narrow single beds. Beds were low and soft. One flat pillow each and a very thin duvet.
4. Bathroom was not clean. INC THE TOILET.
5. The room connected to two other rooms and you could hear virtually everything. No soundproofing at all.
6. You can also hear when the floors above flush their toilet.
7. Some rooms overlook the pedestrianised shopping street but with wirh the windows poorly sound-proofed you hear alot of noise.

All in all, this was once a beautiful Hote, but should no longer be classes as a 5 star. It requires a full refurbishmment and upgrade.

PS. Note how none of the reviews on TripAdvisor are addresses by the management

3 star in a 5 star location!
Stayed for 2 nights with my 3 daughters on our annual Christmas Market’s trip. Firstly I must say the location of this hotel is superb, close to Stephenplatz on one of the best streets in Vienna. To market this hotel as a five star establishment though is misleading. The two rooms we had were large with high ceilings but the bathrooms were very cramped and small, the furniture and fittings tired, the bath towels tiny and the only toiletries provided were shampoo and shower gel - no conditioner or body lotion. There were no English movie channels on the tv - just news and no tea or coffee making facilities although I did request a kettle as I always travel with earl grey teabags and one was duly brought to the room. On the plus side our rooms were interconnecting although the noise from the adjacent bathroom was unbelievable as was the noise from police sirens and refuse collection early in the morning. We had a good deal for the rooms and because of the hotels location I did not complain but if you’re looking for a luxury hotel experience, look elsewhere.

A lovely hotel, well located but let down by service
6 of us stayed (in 3 rooms) for 4 nights in December 2018 while we enjoyed the sights and christmas markets of the wonderful city of Vienna. The location is excellent, in the pedestrianised central shopping district close to Stephansplatz. The room was a good size (3rd floor facing the shopping street) and the bathroom was large with a bath, shower, double sink and bidet. There were no tea/ coffee facilities in the room. The bed was comfortable but the room tended to get warm at night unless the air conditioning was turned on.

The bar area and restaurant on the first floor were pleasant but:

Our friends used the restaurant on the first night and we used it on the last night. The food that was served was well presented and not too pricey, but many of the items on the menu were not available on both occasions. This is unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed standard.

The 6 of us arrived back at the hotel late in the afternoon, after a long day of sightseeing. We wanted a drink in the bar, which was rather busy. There was a group of 4 chairs with a man sitting on one of them and his bag on another. 2 of our party sat on the 2 vacant chairs. The man acknowledged the 2 ladies, picked up his bag and moved. The waiter immediately came over and, in an accusing tone, said "did you ask him to move?" This action was totally uncalled for. On another occasion, we asked if our bill could be separated so that some of us could charge to our rooms. This was, apparently, too hard - they would give us one bill and we would have to sort it out between us. In the event, the handwritten bill presented to us was wrong anyway. We also found the receptionist at check-in to be sullen.

Breakfast wasn't included in our rate - it was €25 extra per person. There are many options for breakfast in the surrounding streets. We visited the Oberlaa every day on Neuer Markt - better value, a real atmosphere and friendly staff

This hotel has so much going for it in terms of location and quality of location. It is such a pity about the poor service

Absolutely beautiful
A month ago my husband and I were very lucky to have the opportunity to travel to Vienna, Austria. We stayed for three nights in this cozy, nice, charming VIENNESE jewel of a hotel. It's location was within walking distance to mayor attractions. If you step outside the back entrance you find a street without cars surrounded by cafes, restaurants and stores. St. Stephens Cathedral was within a few small blocks. Very, very central location. The room had windows overlooking the Franciscan Chapel which is located in front of the main entrance of the hotel. Very Vienna like the decoration of our room with a chandelier in the middle and antique moldings on the roof, A refrigerator that became handy and robes, sleepers and clean towels. A very well sized room. For breakfast, not included in our package we went to the second floor restaurant. They offered a buffet or a menu breakfast with very generous portions. And is nice when you ask to be seated in the glass covered sunroof. The staff was very kind and cordial. A special thank you to the Filipino man with the afternoon/evening shifts, With a smile he guided us to restaurants around the area. Great disposition to help also from all the ladies at reception. That country is great. Full of history, art galleries, churches, music, ballet, opera. Just please go.

Horrible hotel
Location: The only good thing about this hotel. Just in the heart of the city and everything is of walking distance

Reception: 1/4 receptionists i met is nice. The other 3 would not even take my call from the room

Cleanliness: the toilet had dirt and despite me telling them at the reception, the dirt was left until the day i left

Room service: they charge u 5€ for evry order. So basically a bottle of water costed me 11 €, since the mini bar had only sparkling water !

Room Size: spacious but i was staying in a suite so i donno if that counts

Value for money: i wouldn’t pay 70€/ night for such a horrible hotel. Knowing that i payed 220€/ night

well located old world hotel
I had a room on the top floor but not easy to get there and the lift only goes to the 4th floor, then down a corridor, round 3 corners up another flight of stairs, along another corridor!!
Spacious room, but low ceiling, with a small terrace and limited view over the parapet. there's a spacious modern bathroom. Mini bar but NO KETTLE of coffee maker or cups or tea bags. Even the cheapest hotels supply these nowadays. I asked for a kettle and that's all i got, just a kettle....
Now i see so many reviews complaining about no kettle, don't the management ever read them....
Other than that it is comfortable and in a great location.

Ambassador hotel Vienna - Bad is just a small word!
I write this review one my 1st day and still have 3 days to check out. Before I check-in i requested a room which is not facing the shopping area and need a quite room yet again i am given a room which has no sound proofing, I go back to the reception and ask them to change and I am told, sorry no rooms, take it or take!!
With no choice, I try to settle down, and start looking for an iron and iron board. In the 21st century almost every hotel offers this inside or if u ask they bring you one. To my surprise, its a sorry and you have to pay to get your stuff Ironed. So i called and give my stuff for ironing. After 10 mins my stuff comes back with wrinkles like the iron was not done to the staff who does not knows how to speak English, i sent again and after half hour again the same thing. Just cant do ironing. So no solution.

Now wait the misery doesn't end, I took out my charger and the plug points are 2 pin and I have 3 pin charger and when call for adaptor, they dont have as all adaptors are with other customers and the reception says sorry can't help you.

Dont have words to express my frustration. Never ever coming back to this hotel. Now I know a stereo type apology is going to come. So dont bother as its just words and nothing else!!!!

An old-world 5* hotel in the heart of Vienna
The Ambassador is perfectly located at Neumarkt, close to EVERYTHING. This is an old-style 5* hotel. Entrance and lobby are on the narrow side, but there is a wonderful bar at the atrium on the 1st floor. Only it has ALWAYS been empty during our 2 nights' stay.
Our room was spacious, well equipped and even featured a balcony. HOWEVER, it took significant walking from the elevator, plus stairs from the 4th to the 5th floor.
Gym? well, I don't know as we haven't used it. Getting to our room was quite a sports effort...
Bottom line: a decent 5* hotel option in Vienna, though we've been to better ones.

Fantastic Hotel
Let me preface by saying that I am difficult to please when it comes to hospitality, I only stay at 5 star hotels in Europe and I was very impressed with this hotel.
Pro's:
*The rooms are huge (and I got the cheapest room) and very clean. It has an old school charm which some might not like but I felt like I was living in a palace. Nothing about the room felt "old" it just felt a little regal - like everything was in perfect / new condition.
*The beds and sheets were super comfortable. Thats important to me.
*Bathroom was also huge with separate room for toilet.
*My experience with the staff was always super friendly and helpful. Front desk made reservations for me, housekeeping always showed up and helped out with whatever I needed.
*Robes, slippers and all the extra little things you would want in a room were provided.
*Probably the most amazing part of this hotel is the location. Best location.
*Our room looked out onto a side street off of the main street and initially i was worried it would be loud but I seriously could not hear anything in the room when the windows were closed.

Note: I did not opt in for the breakfast. Its completely not necessary and in my opinion a little over priced. Remember, the location is amazing. There are so many amazing places to have breakfast within 1-2 blocks from the hotel. Le Bol is across the street and Joseph Brot is 1 block away. Also, there was no coffee maker in the room but again, really unnecessary considering the great places nearby.

The only real con to me is that this is a privately owned hotel and not affiliate with any hotel chains so you cant get any points for your stay. I read a review below about having to walk up a few stairs to get to your room and that's true. I would not recommend staying here if you have trouble walking up and down steps. Or at least make sure to ask them for a room right off the elevators if its an issue.

Either way, I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay there again.

I arrived at the hotel around 1pm no problem booking in staff were very helpful. They with out asking upgraded us to a suite which was a nice gesture. This hotel is a 5 star and deserved this accreditation as it is spotless and standards are clearly very high. The location of the hotel is in the middle of the main shopping street and you are surrounded all the key sights Vienna has to offer ( this city is amazing ). So Great Room Great Staff Very Clean Very Safe ( Staff adhere to Covid 19 rules ) Good value and quite rooms. It ticks all the boxes for me and hopefully for you too.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights at the end of August, after a long car journey through Europe. We arrived late enough in the evening, around 20 o'clock. The services were well below expectations for a 5 stars hotel in the middle of Vienna. First of all, parking. Due to modernization works that are carried out in front of the hotel, we were guided at front desk to a public parking lot (payed) located to a few minutes walk away, carrying our luggage alone, because there is any bellboy. We should have been warned about that when we booked the room. Hard to belive for a 5-stars hotel! The room’s furniture (century old furniture with historical significance but not practical) is degraded, the upholstery is worn out, the enclosure doors did not close well, and the noise from the next room made by other guests (less tired than we were). Finally, at last breakfast, I have received gluten-free bread expired in July and June respectively (I have gluten intolerance)!!! I’ve noticed that because I’ve got the bread wrapped up. Of course, on check out we had to go alone by walk with the luggage to the parking lot. I recommend this hotel only for the location.

Superb
Liked - Probably due to construction in the area the price was really good (about half the normal price), and the noise from the constructions was only at day time, when we weren't in the room anyways, so great value for money!
We got a huge place with 2 separate rooms - a living room and a sleeping room and a big shower with great water pressure.
The staff were really nice and understanding of our flight delay. There was one unpleasant incident and it was managed quickly and professionally.
Location is excellent on of the main streets and close to the underground.

Location was excellent but the room in general was nt good except the space
Liked - the room was extremely huge and not the one we reserved, it was much bigger. bathroom was excellent
Disliked:
1- the room floor was very noisy and if anyone is walking in the room it makes loud sound.
2- the bed and matress were definitely not 5* ones, not comfortable.
3- for a 5* hotel, door lock is a notmal key with big chain and only one key, they need to work on changing to cards keys

Great place to stay, would stay there again
Liked - Fantastic location in centre of town, you can walk to all the major places of interest. Lovely room good size. Staff friendly and helpful. Beautiful old hotel
Disliked - Breakfast was not good value and the breakfast room was empty when we ate there (only once). The major roadworks outside was nosy but this seems to be going on all over central Vienna. Thwe works should be finished by the end of May
