Note: If you're arriving by vaporetto, you can get off at Rialto and walk 10 minutes OR get off at San Marco Vallaresso (which requires you to enjoy the boat ride for at least 20 more minutes) and walk 5 minutes.
All in all, our basic needs were met and we had a reasonably nice stay. Some things were left to be desired (detailed below).
Pros:
-The decor of our room was charming and the hotel's location was excellent/very convenient.
-The woman who served us breakfast daily took the liberty to remember our coffee orders and room number! A special touch that does not go unappreciated.
-The breakfast was better than what's expected at American hotels, but the egg served is a pre-cooked egg patty (not freshly scrambled). Perhaps due to social distancing precautions, we did not go up to a buffet but our requests were written down and brought to us.
Cons:
-The weekend staff seemed to be friendlier; during the weekday, only one of the receptionists was smiling and treated us warmly. We found that as a whole, the staff's English was limited.
-I emailed the hotel a week prior to arriving, requesting information about where to get a COVID-19 antigen test. No response to my email, and given the staff's limited English, I didn't bother bringing up a high priority topic like this in person. I found better answers from a concierge at another hotel.
-Our room had an adjoining door to the neighbors next door. Though it was locked, we could hear them quite clearly.
-The air vent in the room was on the noisier side, but not overly disruptive.
-Though we didn't need it, the fridge was not cold despite being plugged in. Similarly, though we didn't have much time to watch TV, I was curious to see what Italian TV was like. There were 15 channels and most did not display anything.
-The bath tub was on the narrower side and the facility showed some signs of wear (cracks in the bathroom wall tile, some discoloration).
-We have never experienced issues with our European outlet adaptors, but for whatever reason, we were unable to keep our adaptors plugged into the wall - they kept popping out! Fortunately, there were several heavy pieces of furniture in the room that could be pushed up against the chargers to keep them in place.
