Maison Albar Hotels Le Monumental Palace

What an amazing and lovely hotel. Definitely should be your pick in Porto. We arrived very late from a delayed flight and the front desk manager greeted us in a lovely manner even though it was the middle of the night. Everything about this hotel is 5 stars. The rooms, facilities, location, food, etc is top notch. It’s on London or Paris levels but at a quarter the cost. The included breakfast was a feast and the spa was incredible. But what really set this apart from everyone else was the incredible service. It matched or surpassed some of the finest hotels in the world. Sofia the concierge was incredible. She built a whole itinerary for our two day visit when we arrived. And every single booking and stop was incredible. Everyone at the hotel was so lovely and helpful. And yet discreet and casual. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. One of the finest city hotels I have ever stayed in. Spread the word but not too much that I can’t get a room!

Our room was very very nice. I’m very picky about hotels and this was perfect. The breakfast was excellent as well as the location of the hotel - walking distance to everything in the city. But, the people at the hotel were the best part! They were kind and helpful in every way. Porto is an incredible city and Maison Albar was the icing on the cake!

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are all lovely. I took my 8 year old son to Porto so we could attend a football game, Portugal v Turkey. I was very disappointed upon arrival to learn that the pool was restricted and children cannot use it except from 7-7:30am. That is the most ridiculous rule I have ever heard. Not taking into account our jet lag, I was not going to get up to swim for 30 minutes. Considering the caliber of the hotel, I would expect my room to be fully clean upon arrival. Unfortunately the shower was full of hair on the shower walls. This was quickly addressed but it made me doubt the attention the cleaning staff put into cleaning. On our last evening after spending all day out I was also annoyed to come back to no turn down service. No water. No towels and no care into putting away the extra douvets. I can’t help to think that staff did not care too much since I was traveling with my child. When I called the front desk they were quick to send up water. I booked this hotel and pay these high prices to not have to ask for everything, I expect the hotel to take care of it.

This is a top notch hotel, with awesome rooms, fantastic guest services, with very nice restaurants for breakfast and dinner, and a cozy bar and library sitting area. The service at the bar was probably a little under staffed. The location is very good for a ton of Porto site seeing. We highly recommend this hotel for a first class experience!
