Hotel Torel Avantgarde

Excellent hotel, highly recommended. I stayed here once before the pandemic and once since. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable with beautiful views from the balconies. Both times the service was excellent. An added bonus is the fantastic work of sculptor Paulo Neves featured in the hotel lobby.

Really nice boutique hotel with excellent customer service. The interior is cute and the views are incredible (if your room doesn't have a balcony, make sure to sit outside for breakfast). Note that the location is about 15 to 20 min walk from the central area, but you are closer to riverfront and it makes for a quieter area.

With all awards that this hotel won we expected a bit more. The upgraded (thank you) hotel room was ok. The view was breathtaking. Breakfast buffet was good, filled with good quality products. Especially the pastries were very fresh and delicious.  Unfortunately coffee was worse than the coffee at the economy class flights. Even though the service staff stayed always friendly and gave their best, they urgently need to be supervised. Service was chaotic, often wrong dishes served, and for a poached egg we had to wait more than half an hour yesterday.

Had the most amazing stay at Torel Avantgarde. The upgrade is so worth it. The rooms are stunning, the restaurant is fab. Loved the selection of foods for breakfast. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend it. The views are beautiful from the terrace.
