#3
We loved our 3-night stay at Amerikalinjen so much that we changed our travel plans to return to Oslo for one night at the end of our trip to ensure a second stay at this stunning boutique hotel. We just checked in for our second stay, and were upgraded to a slightly larger room. (The first time we checked in, we had a lovely room and were greeted with a bowl of treats upon arrival, which was delightful.)
The hotel is beautifully unique in so many ways with all its various spaces, including the Haven, the Library, Pier 42, gym, sauna, relaxation area, etc. It has all the amenities of a luxury hotel (robes, slippers, great soaps, etc.) but has the added special touches of the hotel’s history and careful attention to branding and detail to ensure its guests understand why the hotel is such a gem. It is also so, so pleasantly close Oslo Central Station, which not only makes it easy to arrive/depart Oslo, but also ensures close proximity to all the main Oslo attractions.
We’ve loved getting to know the staff, especially Hendrik, Lotte, and all the waitstaff in the Atlas and Pier 42 who’ve gone out of their ways to ensure a terrific experience, including breakfast tips and providing their recommendations of what to visit in Oslo. At the end of our first stay, we had to depart early and miss breakfast, which was one of our favorite parts of the day (I hope the breakfast trays continue - it seems to prevent waste and is so unique). The staff, of course, made sure we had a breakfast package to go for our travels. It is not an exaggeration to stay that this was one of the best overall hotel experiences we’ve ever had, and we wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else in Oslo.
