Location: In a not so touristy area but also not really that far away from the busy city center. It took me roughly 20 minutes to walk down to Gran Via's Santo Domingo square with theatres and nightlife nearby. There's also a metro (subway/underground) station just 5 minutes away from the hotel that'll get you for less than 2 Euros in a matter of minutes to Plaza del Sol, the city center of Madrid.
If you want to get away from the tourist crowds, there's plenty of authentic, inexpensive bars and restaurants around (less than 10 minutes on foot) that cater primarily to locals.
Staff: Very good! Unfortunately, no early check in was available...
Room: Very good! Big (for Madrid), large size TV, good amenities, clean and I even got a room with a balcony! Good mattress. Very quiet location despite there being a hospital nearby. However one could hear some noise from neighboring rooms. No big deal though IMO.
Facilities: There's a nice hotel bar with excellent service and drinks. Unfortunately, being a member of the Sercotel loyalty program doesn't get you any discounts at the bar... No pool or other wellness offer TMK...
Breakfast: Good selection of meats, eggs, fruits including kiwis, pastries, and so on. Unfortunately a bit noisy sometimes due to tour groups staying at the hotel. The coffee comes from a machine. No champagne served for breakfast, not even on Sundays...
Would I stay there again? Yes! For a good price (let's say for less than 100 Euros) on weekends, definitely!
