Beautiful property
As plantinum members, we used points to book a 3 night stay at this beautiful property. It is located in a quiet area of Madrid, approximately a 35-40 minute walk to the center of town (or a 5 Euro Uber ride). We were given a room in what I assume is the stable area of the facility (room 12), distinct from the main building. There was a large wedding going on in the main building, so we appreciated having a quiet retreat. We did not spend much time in the main building, as our room offered everything we needed. Room keeping personnel were fastidious in cleaning on our room on multiple occasions each day and the room had a lovely ambience. The only negative of our stay was that I asked the desk clerk for restaurant recommendations and she was fairly clueless as to good places in the area (of which there are many). Overall a lovely stay in a quiet locale in Madrid

Simply Amazing!!!!
Where to begin. This hotel is amazing! Below are my thoughts on a few elements of this hotel. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have and I will do my best to respond.

Why:
My wife and I stayed here in November 2018 during our honeymoon. It is important to note that we were only passing through Madrid so we only spent one night here and didn’t arrive until 7pm. After a little research I found this hotel and used Marriott points to book it.

Grounds:
My first impressions was that we were entering a grand estate or more like an impressive foreign embassy. We were greeted by a few workers as we exited our taxi and they swiftly took our bags inside. You enter through a gated courtyard vs. a main door right on the street so again it felt like we were entering an embassy. The hotel is something like I have never seen before. Around EVERY single corner and through every doorway was another sight. To keep from looking like a complete tourist I refrained from taking pictures of each room I entered but I really wanted to. After checking in, which was a breeze, we were escorted to room 050. After making our way through a maze of rooms and passing dinner halls, parlors, and gardens we arrived at our room. You really have to see the grounds to appreciate them.

Room:
It was incredible. Large room with tall ceilings. Updated everything. Even the bathroom was updated yet still has a stately feel to it. They even threw a rubber ducky with the bathroom supplies as an added touch. The bathroom was stocked with add-ons for those customers who might have forgotten anything. Bed was comfortable and we had no complaint. The room key was a throwback key where it was actually a real key on a large leather key holder. Again not the normal throw away keys you usually get with Marriott.

Staff:
Top notch! Everyone was VERY helpful. My Spanish is weak at best and everyone was very accommodating. There was a mix guests speaking Spanish and English and I never felt like my lack of Spanish language skills was off-putting to anyone. Check in and check out was a breeze. We went out to dinner that night and the worker even helped us with the taxi driver to ensure he knew where we were heading.

Food:
Being a Platinum member with Marriott we got a free breakfast the next morning and everything was very good. Again the dining room was incredible.

Final Thoughts:
If you are considering it, just go ahead and book this place! I don’t think there was anything we would have changed. My only complaint is that we didn’t have more time to spend here and explore!

Amazing luxury pampering experience
From the moment we arrived, we have felt like royalty. Service is fabulous, attentive and friendly. The individual sitting chamber areas are beautifully decorated and make you want to spend time congregating downstairs. Our room was well appointed with every amenity one could need or think of. I was so grateful for the luxury bathtub and bathroom.

We had an amazing breakfast at La Bibliotecha, their on-site restaurant. We also enjoyed several afternoon Aperol Spritz in their bar area.

We shipped some items to the hotel a few weeks prior to our visit and they were waiting for us safely when we arrived.

Do not hesitate to book here!

Beautiful Property/Problems With Room
We just returned from staying five nights at this property. Quite beautiful hotel in an upscale area of Madrid. We checked in with a friendly and helpful staff member. As a lifetime platinum member I was hoping for an upgrade to a junior suite, however was told that they had none available, which was untrue according to the Marriott website. I had written the hotel prior to arrival and requested a quiet room location. We were assigned to room 207 and assured that it was very quiet, not around any kind of traffic. Not true! Loud traffic noise most the the night. No view from the window at all. When drapes were drawn all we could see was a concrete figure. Thermostat didn’t work all week. We were assured twice that maintenance had taken care of the issue, however we ended up just turning off the air every night. We left a note for housekeeping to leave us a blanket, to no avail. The breakfast however, was quite nice and the location of the hotel was good. We ubered to anyplace we wanted to go. Probably would stay at the Westin next time we are in Madrid.

Boutique Hotel in a Palace
Once a palace is now a boutique hotel in one of the best neighborhoods in Madrid. Request a room in the main building overlooking the gardens. The restaurant was great and food and beverage manager Borja made the difference. Rooms are a good size with bathrooms on the small size. The only draw back of my 10 night stay was to many private events going on every day in the rooms. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Requested to talk to the manager but she was never there and didn’t write me after, first time this happens to me in a hotel. Besides that I will go back and clearly is one of the top choices in Madrid

Distinctive and Magnificent!
Distinctive and magnificent are two superlatives that describes the decor and overall ambiance (see some of the photos here or on the Marriott website) and personal treatment one encounters upon entering the Santo Mauro.
We were always treated with respect, kindness, and friendliness throughout our stay. From the moment we checked in till the time we left the staff were willing to be helpful when needed, but respectful of our own space and independence.
Our room was well maintained and clean throughout our stay. There was a walk in shower, a separate tub and the all the amenities necessary if one chooses to use them.
The food in their restaurant was of the highest quality, fresh and delicious. On a few nights we decided to eat our dinner at the hotel being somewhat tired from touring during the day and except for one meal they got everything right. Sitting in the gardens for dinner surrounded by a well maintained garden was a delight. We could sit and enjoy the gardens and have a conversation without having to converse loudly as in some restaurants. The chef knows how to vary and blend his ingredients, which made our meals delicious and satisfying.
Overall, our seven night stay couldn't have been more pleasing and enjoyable. After a long day touring, it was comforting to be able to come to a room that was comfortable, relaxing and pleasant.
When we go back to Madrid, this is the hotel we will stay at. No other considerations.

Beautiful Hotel in a Quiet Part of Town, yet Convenient
The Santo Mauro is a beautiful old time hotel in a residential area of Madrid. It is not far from buses and metro stops that can take you to most tourist attractions. The staff is very friendly. You can not have a friendlier welcome than from the porter Francisco. The front office staff was always helpful, although one day it was staffed by men and the friendliness quotient went down a few notches. I stayed in Room 203 in the main building. The room was a very good size and well appointed. The only downside was that it faces the outside bar area and if there are any special events the noise can bother you. We were there five days and all the special events were wrapped up at a reasonable hour. There were a couple of trash pickups in the night that woke us up. The breakfast service was excellent with great choices although when Saturday and Sunday rolled around the service downgraded a little bit although they seemed to have plenty of staff. I highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful unique property in a quiet location
We made a quick side trip to Madrid from Barcelona via train. Our room in this beautiful restored palace was clean, spacious and quiet. We loved the bar area and dining rooms all so beautifully decorated. The staff was so helpful and friendly and be sure to dine in the garden area. It was so easy to get anywhere by Uber or walking.

Just had the opportunity to spend a night at the Hotel Santo Mauro as we traveled through Madrid on our way home from a holiday vacation...I wish we could have stayed longer! Our room was large and luxurious, room service was prompt and delicious, and the service overall was outstanding. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. In particular, Carmen went out of her way to help us arrange last minute COVID tests and make dinner reservations, while Hector reached out to us before we even arrived to see if we had any special requests or needs. This hotel is truly a "luxury collection" property. I highly recommend staying there!

I’d give them 6 stars if I could! We had a lovely stay at the hotel for our special occasion. And with the help of Mr. Sanchez from the concierge department, the surprise preparation for my husband’s birthday turned out very impressive.
The hotel itself had its own style, luxurious but not too extravagant. The staffs were friendly and helpful.
The restaurants are beautiful and unique. The food was delicious. The bar looked nice but we didn’t try the drinks there because we had our champagne in the room.
The next day we had a drink in the terrace garden. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful though there was an event just in the other side, but we didn’t notice any noise.
We’ll definitely come back.

Gorgeous, elegant hotel. Luxurious but small, fine but not stuffy. Lovely, friendly, helpful service. Very, very clean and comfortable. The courtyard is a respite in the city. We usually like to try different places but we would stay here again and again.

The hotel/ former palace is beautiful, both outside and inside. The staff is extremely helpful, kind and friendly and we've had all our needs taken care of (special thanks to Hector!). The rooms are cosy, clean and the beds dreamy. The breakfast room with a la carte menus is just perfect. Everything was as expected from a hotel of this category. We'd definitely come back.
