Church Street Hotel

My stay at Church Street hotel was smooth and hassle free. The hotel has a self check in policy after 3 pm and instructions of accessing the hotel were provided well in advance. Tea and coffee is complimentary- which is great!! Cleanliness was top notch - this is the most important aspect for me. It is located on the main road so accessibility to bus stop is great and only 10 minutes walk to Denmark Hill Station. However, the only downside was the noise. I had to keep my window open for air circulation and couldn't sleep well due to people screaming etc.

The hotel was nice and clean, all the staff I spoke with were very friendly. Breakfast was nicely set out with a good choice of foods and different milks (including oat). I wasn't sure about the idea of not having tea/coffee facilities in the room, but I actually really liked the layout of the shared kitchen/lounge area. The freshly found coffee available in there is much nicer than any instant stuff you'd usually get in rooms and totally sold me on the communal layout.
I look forward to stopping again.

The hotel room [#22] was in horrible condition and was not clean. The sink had so much hair in it.. There was also hair all over in the bed sheets.  The bed was the oldest bed I have ever seen or slept on in my life. My back still hurts from sleeping on the mattress for one night. I checked out as soon as I could the next morning at around 7 am since the front desk is not open 24 hours. I told the lady at the front desk that I was not happy and I asked to cancel the remaining days of my stay. She said that she would process the cancelation. My refund was never processed. I've reached out multiple times via email since they never have once answered their phone. They are denying me a refund because I was forced to stay overnight. I've been charged for 3 nights for the worst 8 hours of my life.

Terrible experience and more than 1 hour of anguish at midnight thinking they had lost/stolen my bag:
When I arrived to check-in, my room wasn’t ready, but the lady offered to leave my luggage there and said she would leave it inside my room. When I arrived at midnight, my bag wasn’t in my room. I had to call the night manager from my international phone, who came and tried to help me look for it, as the lady from the morning hadn’t left any special instructions regarding my luggage. after more than 1h looking for it, the manager found the bad that had been hidden in a wardrobe in the reception but Nobody had been informed… I feared that my whole luggage had been stolen but luckily in the end and after a long and very tense 1+hour I could retrieve it.
I would never recommend such experience to anyone!
