Nice but not luxurious and pricey
Let's get it straight from the beginning: this is a very nice hotel, but 3/5 reflects rather the quality standard of a hotel that markets itself as luxury.
Coming to the hotel is a strange experience. An empty lounge. No bell boy, concierge, nothing, just an empty lounge. The lobby itself is one stairs up and very tiny. We came around three, so others were checking in at the same time, and therefore it was crowded and awkward. No one to say anything, no one to take the first contact.
Checking in was pleasant, yet my status as a golden loyalty card holder wasn't notified in any way. "Oh you have that, I'll book it", was the only reaction throughout the whole visit.
The room ('Atelier') itself was nice. Very quiet. High ceiling, nice interior, big bathroom with both a shower and a tub, two sinks. A japanese toilet seat with a light inside the toilet (!!) and where you can have your bum washed by clicking on a remote controller. The bed was one of the best I've slept in, ever. BUT: it was hot, really hot, and it didn't help to click the tempereature lower. There was thick layers of dust e.g. on the closet doors. The sockets on the other side of the bed didn't work. We could have noted the reception, but it was night time when the hotness and the sockets were found out.
The winter garden bar was nice, as well as the 'spa'. It was just a small pool, a cold water pool and two saunas, but the atmosphere was soothing.
Breakfast was open until noon on a weekend, that is luxury. We arrived in the most busy time, and the atmosphere was a bit chaotic with the staff running around and all the tables occupied. It took a good while until coffee and juice was served, but the staff was very polite. The food was good quality all the way, and the coffee was especially good. The grill was a bit too busy, had to wait for bacon for almost 15 minutes, but it's made on order so it was worth it.
As said, a nice hotel, but certainly not luxury and not worth the price. Also, I found it very strange not to recognize the gold tier customers like in numerous other SPG/Marriott hotels around the world.
