Hilton Helsinki Strand

The hotel is a slightly older property, but it has been significantly upgraded in most places including the rooms and the dining area.
Pros:
-The staff is exceptional. They’re friendly and helpful in every way. This includes the front desk staff and all of the restaurant staff.
-The location is convenient to most areas and half of the rooms have a nice view of the water and old town.
-The rooms have been nicely redone and the bathrooms include heated floors.
-The restaurant is a nice area off of the lobby with a good view and serves great food. The executive lounge is currently closed and so they have a happy hour for the Diamond members down in the breakfast dining area. The breakfast is above average.
-Covid mitigation precautions were taken very seriously from enforcement of masking to verifying vaccination status prior to entering the restaurant. This is in line with government guidance and they follow it very well.
Cons:
-The public areas are slightly dated but most of the public areas have been updated so not a big detractor.
Overall it’s an excellent choice for a place to stay in Helsinki!

Very nice and comfortable Hilton hotel downtown Helsinki. The position of the hotel is perfect. The rooms are quite modern and recently refurbished together with the communal area of the hotel. The restaurant and breakfast area is outstanding very elegant and nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is really top level with a buffet choice that is incredibly varied with both traditional Finnish dishes as well international. The only area I was expecting to be a bit better was the hotel spa which looks indeed a bit old but still. Ice. Beds are super comfortable. In general Hilton quality as you would expect it. Well done!

The rooms are old and the building is in need of renovation. The biggest problem I had was with the bathrooms. There was a smell of sewage coming from the toilets that would not go away. The shower was barely warm and the shower nozzle was not high enough, so I had to bend down to fit under it.
The pool looked beautiful, but it was very small. I can't imagine this would have been very nice if there were more than 3 or 4 people swimming at once.
The sauna didn't impress me very much, but it was there and it does accomplish its job.
The food and service was very good and it's what moves this from a 2 star to 3 star review.
Ultimately, Hilton has been disappointing me more and more often. Properties so far below the quality of others in the area has become a normal pattern. This stay really makes me more certain that it's worth abandoning my Hilton Diamond status and focusing on other hotels.
