First Hotel G was centrally located at the train station in Gothenburg, within walking distance of the city's central attractions, shopping center and nightlife. The hotel room was simple and somewhat impersonal, but practically decorated and appeared well maintained. The room consisted of a large desk, armchair, TV with a selection of Scandinavian and English-language channels, and two beds that were put together into a double bed. The mattress was comfortable the bedding was clean and freshly ironed. The room did not have a minibar. The guest room only had a window to an inside atrium and it gave a somewhat stuffy feeling. The air in the room was also somewhat warm without this being able to regulate. The hotel's common areas were simple and impersonal, but both the cleanliness and the maintenance seemed to be satisfactory. I missed some more smiles and enthusiasm from the staff both at check-in and check-out. The level of service of the staff in the breakfast room could also have been somewhat better. Breakfast was served as a buffet and had a choice of both hot and cold dishes, but not beyond what is expected. Somewhat more local specialties had helped to elevate the overall experience. In relation to price and quality, there are several hotels that provide a better experience in Gothenburg. However, the hotel is well suited if one wants a simple overnight stay in connection with late arrivals or early train departures.
