Impeccable service and style
Not only is it incredibly stylish and well laid out,
But the staff is so incredibly attentive and warm and eager to serve!
Our favorite employee was a guy by the name of WILLIAM.
He bent over backwards to make our stay so so special.
We ended up just looking for opportunities to hang out with him because he was just so genuinely kind.
We're dying to come back and stay again.
The breakfast was awesome(and included!),
the room was stylish (the walk in shower, the heated bathroom floor, and the SUPER comfortable bed were highlights)
The location was central to so so much (and right in front of the train station)
We wanna live here, and have the staff for roommates :-)

A lovely experience
Upon entering I was not sure if it was the hotel! You find yourself in a wonderful lobby centered around Roxie's bar. Staff were friendly and offered us water or a coffee, such a nice welcoming touch. We had a standard double room that was a good size with a modern design feel. The shower was large and luxurious, the bed and pillow comfortable and the quilt cosy. The room was quiet. More hanging space, for example hooks for the winter coats that are essential on a wintery Copenhagen day would be of benefit as the closet provided is small.

Wine hour is a fantastic initiative that gives the hotel a welcoming, relaxed feel. Staff are an added bonus during this time as they helpfully and generously serve you wine. Breakfast was also nice and healthy, although the buffet was great it would have been nice if staff pointed out that there were freshly cooked options available. The place mat doubles as the breakfast menu, but it remained unseen by us until we had our breakfast plates cleared from it. All in all highly recommended.

The devil is in the details
We stayed at the Herman K for three nights in January.
The hotel has certainly have the "WOW" factor in the moment you enter the door. The high ceiling with the designed lighting are great.
The problem is that sometimes the design and the technology comes on expense of functionality and comfort.
For example: the bathroom has no shelves, there is no table in the room , very limited closet space and no curtain in the shower .we asked to use an iron but they have only steamer which is not as good.
The maintenance of the rooms is also problematic. In our room the sound system didn't work as well as the chromecast that also had to be replaced. The Shower head i was blocked so the water was spreading. Eventually we were moved to another room.
One more thing is that the ameneties in the room are not as should be in 5 star hotel. There is no Nespresso machine, no refrigerator, no pillow selection.

On the positive note, All the staff at the reception are very nice and helpful. The location is great and close to the metro station.
The breakfast is fantastic with natural smooties, a la cart hot dish and even a glass of champagne.
Another great feature at the hotel is the Wine happy hour and the night cap with neat drinks at night.

Overall, we were happy with the stay at Herman K and recommend it for a stay in Copenhagen.

Stylish but small
Not much to add to the previous reviewers. Rooms are indeed very small (we booked a Standard Double Room) BUT

- Wine Hour and Night Cap is something you usually don't see in this segment
- Breakfast is great (great variety, on top of that a lot of choices; make sure you get up early and be there before the crowd; tables are small and very close to each other)
- Service is attentive / mostly students (although two emails were left unanswered, one of them because the Bluetooth system did not work for some reason)
- Bar and lobby are stylish
- Location is great

Otherwise very easy and efficient check-in and -out.

5 star boutique luxury!
I had planned this stay since january as it was a birthday gift for my girlfriend. We had the pleasure of the 'Loft Suite', which was just as elegant and classy as I had hoped for. 2-stories with marble bathroom with the best shower in DK and the built-in television was just plain fun for a guy like me. The concept with the unlimited 'mini'-bar is excellent and I must say we took full advantage of the elaborate wine list provided. The house champagne, Jean Vesselle, is a real crowd pleaser by the way.

Service was impeccable even though they had to visit us many times on 5th floor. The bed was simply amazing and the speaker-system from Bose lovely - nice touch with speakers in the bathroom as well.

At night, we visited the hotel restaurant and I probably should review them on their own turf, but.. Please visit Roxie! Damn, you won't regret it :)

Only letdown was a slow elevator, but that will not affect my rating in any way. Don't you worry - we will be back! Thank you to all the staff - you made our stay truly memorable! :)

Fooled by ad
Arriving at this hotel you are met in a non existing lobby, but rather by a cashier at the end of a rather nice bar... The architect and owner is trying to get the most out of and expanding market and somehow put the entrance, lobby, restaurant, bar, buffet area for breakfast and more into some square meters not sufficient for its purpose. Rooms are quite nice and quit between them. Service both very good and surprisingly danish, harsh. When asked for a table for 6 for breakfast the answer was that it doesnt excist. Arranged anyway, but hmmmmm. Breakfast good, but limited. Bar menu good, snacks not sufficient and strange choices. If you know the hotel beforehand it might live up, but first time we were disappointed and would rate it 3 to 4 stars.

Transformer transformed
I like everything about this hotel, except the bathroom. The location is fabulous, less than 200 m from the Metro and Stroget. It is right across from the Magazin Department Store. The custom breakfast is excellent and unusual for Copenhagen. I’m writing this over a glass of complimentary Cava at breakfast. The 5pm wine hour is another unique feature. I had a standard room and it had everything you’d expect and then some. I think every hotel should have a hand steamer now. The bathroom shower is open (no door) and we found it difficult to keep the water in the shower area. The sink is large, but there is very little shelf space. The light was also inadequate for shaving/makeup. Other than the minor inconveniences of the bathroom, I’d highly recommend this place.

Disappointing.. not a business hotel.
Maybe a boutique, but not suitable for a business trip. The hotel reception is at the bar, the resturant is next door..

Bad performance of staff. Arrived late and only after check in was told the double room booked was no longer available “but we have a small room for you..”. Why was that information not shared before check-in .. !!

The small room turns out to be a box room in the loft.. I banged my head on the eves sloping roof which make 1/3 of an already small room unusable. I can’t believe they sell this as a room.. maybe it was staff accommodation ... ??

The electric blinds did not work. It was broken so just clicked... no maintenance man to fix so they were going to try and call one out at 11.45pm..

The lifts stank of wine.. !!

Having being charged a fortune per night for a double room and ended up with a small box room, I was then relocated to another hotel.. a hotel at a lower grade hotel at around half the price. !!

I was told.. “don’t worry there is noting to pay at the other hotel, we’ve taken care of it for you”. They just lack integrity and the concept of service..

A very cool and just short of excellent hotel
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Herman K, However, it was just short of excellent. I would give it 4.5 stars and I would suggest it has more pros than cons from our experience, as detailed below.

Overall we thought Hotel Herman K was a design led, cool friendly and very good hotel and we would recommend it. However, as explained below, there are some aspects we found slightly diminished the overall experience and if the management want a truly five star experience they should consider addressing these to take it from very good to excellent.

First the positive aspects of our stay:

Location - The hotel was so easy to get to from the airport. Just 15 minutes from the airport on the Underground and a short walk from the Kongens Nytorv underground station. In fact you can walk through the Magasin du Nord store as the underground station has an exit directly into the store. The hotel is directly opposite the Magasin du Nord store and is well located for the shopping district and we found it a short walking distance from some excellent restaurants. It is also just a few minutes walk from Nyhavn.

Staff - The staff were great and very welcoming, helpful and thoughtful and friendly throughout our stay. They really made the difference and our welcome was lovely including a “nice to see you” drink which was a delightful touch.

Hotel Design/Ambience - The hotel ambience is urban cool and friendly and the bar/reception area is striking and dramatic. The hotel was formerly an electrical transformer station and has kept the industrial stark aesthetic which works really well. The outside of the hotel has a very striking grid of horizontal metal blades while inside the concrete is left exposed along with concrete floors and original terrazzo stairs. It is clearly deservedly a cool and fashionable venue and whilst we were there Elle magazine had a cocktail party there to which we were told we were welcome to attend and the attendees, who included some Danish celebrities, seemed to be having a great time.

Room design - The room itself is modern in design bright and airy and we found it quiet and the bed very comfortable. We also really liked the usb ports built into the bedside shelves. The room has a safe, a hairdryer and a hand held clothes steamer. There is also a kettle and we had a small table and a single chair. The television is a good size with only a few English language channels. However the room is on the small side (see below). The wi-fi is also very good and the hotel was very clean.

Breakfast - The breakfast is superb, a fresh organic buffet supplemented by freshly made hot food made for a great start to the day. Both days we were there I had a freshly made omelette, ginger and apple juice and a pastries and my wife had freshly made scrambled eggs with champagne. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and it is well worth making sure you experience the breakfast.

Wine hour and nightcap - Not only can you have champagne for breakfast but the hotel offers a free glass of its own very drinkable wine between 5pm and 6pm and a night cap with a wide selection of free spirits served between 10pm and 11pm. This is a nice touch and fits well with their friendly welcoming vibe.

The negative aspects that we felt prevent this hotel being a truly 5 star experience include:

Position of reception - The reception area is positioned at the back right next to the lift and bar. This is an awkward position as when you arrive in the hotel you are faced with the bar rather than reception and this can be confusing when the bar is busy. If the bar is busy then it is is both difficult to navigate and you feel a like you are in the way as you are standing right next to the lift. More than two people at the reception area makes it feel like a crush.

Room size - I paid extra for a “Superior Double Room with Balcony” and I found the room size small. The room itself is comfortable and the decor is nice but we felt a bit squeezed. There is nowhere really to store your luggage as the wardrobe was very small (single size) and raised up above drawers and the safe. If you had hand luggage only I think you could place your case beneath the bedside shelves. There is not much they can do about the room size but be aware it is cosy and comfortable.

Room issues - We found the air conditioning heating was not working when we arrived and the room was too cold. We did contact the hotel staff straight away about this and were given an additional duvet and promised it would be fixed the next day as it was quite late when we arrived but this did not happen. In addition there were bluetooth speakers in the room that were not working. The staff did try and find another room for us but there were none available and these were irksome rather than fundamental issues and not worth us wasting time chasing, especially as the next day the staff were very busy with the all day event for Elle magazine.

Bathroom door - This may seem a small issue but the bathroom has a sliding door and is very difficult to slide shut, because it has a flat handle and does not slide smoothly. I am strong but I found it awkward to close and it felt badly designed and a bit poor quality, it should glide closed but instead it shuddered.

Despite these quibbles overall it really is a very good and just short of excellent hotel. As I said our overall experience was very enjoyable and we would definitely return, it just needs some work on the details before we can class it as excellent.

Waoo!!

Charming hotel within walking distance to central Copenhagen. Some of the rooms require walking down stairs across a balcony and then up stairs. Be sure to request a room that has direct elevator access if you have trouble with stairs. Friday night they had a DJ in the bar/restaurant and even though we were only one level up we heard nothing! Very customer oriented.
Note - The hotel reception is in the bar - we walked by looking for the door. This must happen quite a bit because they came out to bring us in. We had a Superior King room - very small but comfortable and clean.

As a Titanium member I decided to book this hotel since it was new. Could not find reviews since it rebranded to a Marriott. Upon arrival I thought I was walking into a restaurant/bar. There is no dedicated front desk area. The cashier also checks you into the hotel. No recognition for your status here. The lady checking us in was very nice and since they had just switched over to a Marriott she was not too familiar with Marriott standards. We were given our room on the fourth floor. The room I booked was the small room hoping I would have gotten an upgrade. Yes the room is VERY small. We had two medium size suitcases and no where to put them in the room. The hallways are painted black which I thought was nice.
****The bathroom had a single sink, shower and toilet. Amenities consisted of bulk bottle of shampoo, body soap, lotion and hand soap. If you want shower cap, conditioner etc. you can ask at the front desk and they will give it to you. Plenty of towels and the lighting was good. Two people cannot be in the bathroom at the same time. Water was nice and hot. Shower was good but the water spills over to the sink/toilet area since no glass.
****The bedroom area is wide enough just for the bed and 1 small area on each side of the bed to place you phone etc. on. They only have one usb on each side of the bed. No drawers to store anything. Bed was very comfortable. Our phone in the room did not work.
There was a small table with the coffee/tea machine and condiments. The TV is hung on the wall and could only find CNN, BBC and one other channel in English. The closet is small with a safe and a few small drawers. Suitcases will not fit in here. We stacked ours on the floor.
**** Housekeeping was very good and serviced our room daily. Room was very clean.
Overall: The room we had was very small but the location and the staff made up for it for us. All the staff including the chef and the restaurant staff were very helpful in planning our days. Kudos to the staff.
