Folks, this is a terrific BOUTIQUE hotel that is a great value with an exceptional staff and more style than most hotels. It is centrally located, too. Anyone who complains that it lacks appointments of the big chains did not read anything about it. We stayed in The Collector's Suite which was furnished beautifully in Danish Modern furniture, spacious, terrific bathroom, and lovely views from the 5th floor. There was some city noise but this is, um, a city. Not sure any typical window could have blocked it. They offer a discount if you turn down housekeeping and will take $ off if you don't use the breakfast tickets (which we did not because there are such amazing bakeries and coffee nearby). We plan on returning this summer and will update if there are changes, particularly about the air conditioning which we did not need in March.

Given all the positive reviews I was really looking forward to my stay here but have to say I was pretty disappointed. The staff just seemed completely disinterested and for the three days I was here the only time anyone spoke to me was when I got back one night after midnight and the receptionist demanded to see evidence that I was a guest there!
Never offered any wine which other reviewers have mentioned and was a big part of why I chose this place. There's also not really a bar, just a minibar in the lobby you can use. Also the lobby is really just a waiting area rather than a nice lounge you'd want to spend any time in. Certainly not somewhere to come and work from.
The room I had was small, far too hot and overlooked a load of bins. Granted I had only paid for a basic room so can't really expect too much. In its favour the desk was a good size and the desktop ironing board made a great laptop stand!
Had to leave the window wide open every night even though it was just 10 degrees out, because the place was like an oven with no option to turn the temperature down. Also disappointed to find little plastic bottles of toiletries which are terrible for the environment.
The TV had basic local channels but you can't stream from your own devices or use Netflix etc.
The breakfast was the standard continental offering (i.e. rubbish) with no hot options so I didn't bother with it. The coffee was disappointingly weak.
If you want to work from here I would actually recommend going nextdoor to the Citizen M hotel which has a big lounge with loads of workstations with power outlets etc. They also have really nice staff. In fact if you can get a room here I'd wholeheartedly recommend it over the Alexandra.

Generally a nice modern & clean aesthetic in the hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful no matter the time or the request. The room was spotless, small yet so well designed. Overall a very pleasant stay due to the kind and attentive staff throughout all sections of the hotel so would easily recommend to others and would stay again.

A must try hotel if you like experiences!
I really enjoyed the 2 or 3 times that I stayed in this hotel. It offers a unique atmosphere that through you back into a different time.
Staff are also very nice and attentive, they fixed my lightbulb in less time than it took me to finish the complimentary glass of wine.
I like that every evening clients can get a glass of wine.
And if you opt to skip on room service, then you get a voucher that can be used at the bar.
The breakfast is to say the least, small. But at least it is good.
Overal a must try hotel, I'd gladly visit many more times.
