Very simple and basic. Although friendly staff , amenities can use some improvement such as dangling shower holder and curtains.  With free breakfast but only served starting 8:30am.  ( to 10:30 am). No common lounge area nor kitchen or dining room to use outside of breakfast hour. Oddest is the shared room key system.  One key for all roommates.  So room key on door if someone is in. If you are last one to leave , drop the key at reception tray. Bedroom needs update as there was only one plus to shared between 2 bunk beds. Upper bunk needs to share with lower.  No bed light.  Only one room ceiling light so very inconvenient if one person decides to keep it on. Other than night , descent night of sleep if the roommates were considerate.

Atop a large hill and 2 km away from the Camino path it's not your first choice... And they know it. It's not awful. The beds & showers were good, but the floors are thin and you can hear footsteps above you. Breakfast is at 8 am unless you ask in advance and even then they're not prepared.

We booked the day before arrival, the rooms are moderate and tidy, the beds comfortable and the stuff very friendly. However, half of the showers don't Work and the men's showers/toilets in the basement don't invite u to spend more time than needed due to their smell. But you can park for free on the street, WiFi is fast and it's pretty close to the City! The staff gave us good tips and we had a good time in Cuimbra.

Great hostel especially for pilgrims (pilgrim's discount!) Even though it's not very close to the Camino. I lucked out choosing this hostel because it was the first day of the students' frosh week. The streets were madness but I was in a great location to be able to sleep and still enjoy some nice parts of Coimbra that tourists don't usually go to.
