ibis Coimbra Centro

Basic, compact room. Clean, ok size bathroom. Location is very good, right by the river and 5min walk to the centre with bars and restaurants. Breakfast continental, was all right. Hotel parking is avilable, although the entrance/exit is extremely tight (we had a small car and I don't know how we managed to get in and out without screaping the car) After that we kept parking on the hotel's side street with allocated street parking (it was cheaper on the meter than in the hotel). We arrived (unfortunate, not knowing) on the week of graduation parties that were held along the river and it was bit noisy every night, but the lovely receptionist put us up in a room towards the back, so it was ok. I would recommend this hotel only because of its location, it's no more than 3 star with difficult parking. I'm used to 4 star hotels and this was my second hotel choice, as my favourite hotel was fully booked up.

A nice 2 star hotel. Cute, international dorm-like (but separate with bathrooms) simple rooms. Close to the center, onsite parking for $7, you can find free/cheap parking on the street nearby.

Although the rooms and the public areas show their age, it is still offering good value for money. Premises are clean and Covid-19 protocols are being followed. Continental breakfast is limited and no hot menu items are available. Also, there are no offerings for those who are gluten and / or lactose intolerant. Overnight parking fee is an affordable Euro 7.00 per day with in and out privileges.

The hotel is well located next to a riverfront park and at the bottom of the hill where the university and old town are found. It is a renovated Ibis, so the bedding is quite comfortable and the decor the same as in any Ibis. The staff was very helpful, attentive and friendly. Breakfast was good and had the usual things available as a buffet, despite the Covid restrictions (use of mask and gloves mandatory).
