Disappointing in many, many ways!
his was a very disappointing experience from some very specific horrible things to some general things. Along with that some nice encounters (the Concierges). The really, really bad: We were booked from December 24-January 1. The Hotel apparently has a raging, all night New Years Eve party that causes the hotel to vibrate, the music travels, and the inebriated guests are allowed out side in the courtyard (so if you have a courtyard room, you have no protection. We were not told, informed, or even given courtesy letters in our rooms (we would have checked out and stayed elsewhere)> so one night of horrible noise and no sleep.Really bad: We signed up for the breakfasts (28E, so pretty expensive for what it is). We told the hotel we did not need breakfast the last morning as we were leaving too early. We were told that we would get a 'to go' breakfast and should eat it during the taxi ride to the airport (at 6:00am!!!).Exceptionally rude: When we came down to leave at 6:00am, the man working the front desk would not assist us with our luggage, or even hold the door to the elevator. I was traveling with my elderly mother (88) and he would not even come outside to hold that door, or wait for a taxi. I had to run into the street to get one................I am pretty sure a Holiday Inn would have been more respectful and better service.Bad- there was a broken soap dish in my bathroom the entire stay. I left it there to see if this so called '5 star' hotel would ever change it, they did not.Bad- the heat works only inconsistently. I changed rooms to try to find heat, ended up with a space heater all week. Other guests commented their rooms were cold, as it was cold out. So not a cozy place to stay.Disappointing- we were there for Christmas week, and although the hotel has a little decorations, there is not much festivity. It was odd considering how decorated Brussels is for this holiday.Disappointing: we booked this through American Express Platinum travel, and where there for over a full week. Usually there is an upgrade, or a lovely fruit plate, something to say thank you for the long stay. There was no acknowledgement of any kind. All in all, for the money, stay elsewhere!
