Great family trip closw to everything!
We had our 18 month son with us for a 10-day Christmas trip. We enjoyed the hotels location being central to many Chrostmas markets, the Mall of Berlin, Alexander Plats, and many other things like Berlin Wall Museum, Checkpoint Charlie, Legoland, etc.

No complaints
The room service was delicious and the hotel store had a great selection of souvenirs

Does not deserve 5*
Stayed there for 3 days for a business trip, had to wait a long time for the check in as only 2 desks were opened. Some lifts doors were not closing correctly so had to wait for ages everytime. Without forgetting not having hot water in the bathroom for 2 mornings, my colleagues were in the sane situation. When we complained the only answer we get was "it is a temporarily issue"... Finally buffet lunch was ok but did not deserve the price you have to pay for it.

The Hilton hotel is clean and comfy. The room was large, a little dated but the bathroom appeared to have been updated. The shower had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was very expensive and not value for money. As a result we only ate breakfast once at the hotel. Plenty of places nearby to grab a coffee and pastry. Staff were very friendly and helpful when asking for recommendations on where to eat and what to see locally.

Description

Location
The historic Gendarmenmarkt, host to two domed cathedrals and an 18th century concert house, is one of Berlin’s most elegant squares. It’s also conveniently central: Friedrichstrasse’s array of expensive shops and smart cafes are right around the corner, and sights like Checkpoint Charlie, Potsdamer Platz, the Reichstag and Brandenburger Tor are all within 20 minutes on foot. U-Bahn Stadtmitte is just a minute away

Style & character
The building that houses the Hilton was constructed in 1989 as part of the luxury East German Interhotels chain. It has been the Hilton since 1992, and the interior now presents a tasteful balance of spacious, light-filled public areas dotted with columns and modern gold, brown and cream colour schemes

Service & facilities
The hotel has very good service from beginning to end, with multilingual reception staff and concierge desk happy to handle anything from car and bicycle rentals to concert and dinner reservations. The health club encompasses a 14-metre indoor pool that hosts Aqua-Fit classes, a beauty salon with Kerstin Florian body treatments and other services (including hair), plus a steam room and 24-hour fitness room decked out with Precor equipment. Business guests can utilise the hotel’s 15 function rooms, a grand ballroom and a dedicated business centre

Rooms
Rooms are warm and reasonably stylish without being over-the-top in terms of design. The king-size beds are comfortable, the TVs have free satellite channels and work desks come with ergonomic chairs. Most have views across the square or the rear garden, although the Executive rooms and Suites offer superior vistas of the city, as well as separate living areas and access to the daily snacks and treats of the Executive Lounge

Food & drink
Upscale currywurst and other grilled snacks can be enjoyed on the pleasant outdoor terrace at Domcurry, while the Listo Lobby Lounge’s casual menu of burgers, salads and club sandwich (as well as cocktails and live music at weekends) is convenient for quick and sociable bites. Mark Brandenburg, named after the rural area that surrounds Berlin, offers an aptly regional menu and lovely views of the German Cathedral, and guests can also find a weekly changing Business Lunch menu and popular Sunday Lunch. The hotel breakfast is lavish, with made-to-order eggs, champagne and artisan breads.
Up to two children, aged 10 or younger, can eat free of charge from the hotel’s kids’ menu (breakfast, lunch and dinner) when accompanied by a paying adult guest. The Sunday Lunch buffet, served at the Beletage restaurant, is free of charge for children under nine; 9 to 15 year-olds get a 50% discount. There’s free children's entertainment, and colouring books are available at each restaurant

Value for money
Double rooms from €139 (£116) in low season; and from €300 (£250) in high. Breakfast included. Wi-Fi €25 (£21) per day
