Hotel that is getting old. I spent 3 nights with my women's tennis club (15 people) training at the Hotel Höllriegl. The facility is very nice, the seats are perfect (outside and in the hall) and sufficient. My room in the country house was clean, well-kept and large. Breakfast was a highlight for me, since the jun. boss bought vegan alternatives especially for me. The staff was consistently friendly and courteous. Unfortunately, the menu in the evening was anything but vegan-friendly, there were 5 hearty meat dishes and a Kaiserschmarrn on offer, all printed on an ordinary A4 piece of paper. Pasta with tomato sauce was specially prepared for me on the first evening, and it was good. The fish from a tennis friend was totally overcooked, no one reacted to the feedback. So after the first dinner we decided that we wanted to spend the rest of the evening somewhere else. Not far away we found what we were looking for - a nice restaurant with a regional Sainola menu (starting with meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan, very good wines and drinks, everything was there) at the moated castle - if you are in Kottingbrunn, you should definitely stop by there. All in all a nice place for tennis enthusiasts, but the menu (for a 4 star hotel really the lowest class) is a lot of room for improvement, then the hotel would have deserved 4-5 stars.
