Extraordinary!
What an amazing stay! I travel every week to a different country for business, and this stay was one of the most memorable! When I arrived with my colleague, we were greeted by very friendly staff, who with a genuine smile greeted us and made us feel welcome. The receptionist - Izabela (hope I spell the names right) was very kind and warm and made the check-in quick and pleasant. The room itself was very nice, spacious, clean and well equipped - my favorite so far in Athens hotels. Then we went to a pool bar at the top of the hotel - first thing I noticed was the beautiful view of the Acropolis, but that was not the most amazing part. The staff in the bar/restaurant was extraordinary and I have never received better service. The drinks were prepared by a very friendly bartender named Alexandros - who made sure, genuinely that we enjoyed them. Then, a manager of the bar himself came to introduce himself and make sure we are happy and taken care of properly - the man named Constantinos has personally greeted us every night we visited the bar (and we did not go to any other), and most importantly made us feel like we can feel at home there. Our last night of the stay we enjoyed a very cool party in the bar, although would be better if there was more staff, since the bar was quite popular.
I will definitely come back to this hotel!

Absolutely no luxury hotel
Hotel is easy to reach with public traffic from the airport. Room is small and basic. Room temperature was 25 degrees Celsius and although asked for fixing it two times it never was fixed. Breakfast not special and the coffee comes out of a machine. Terrible liquid! In 2019 this is not acceptable anymore.

Staff more than friendly. Hotel is situated in a bad part of the city, especially after sun down. It’s recommendable to take the metro of you would like to go to the center.

Their line : “affordable luxury” is a lie. Price was oke for a three star hotel.

Very comfortable with fantastic view of Acropolis.
Our room was extremely comfortable with super clean beds and all amenities. Linen bedding and towels changed daily. Staff welcoming and attentive. The breakfast was wonderful with a vast choice catering for different world tastes. The direct view of the Acropolis from the 9th floor restaurant/bar was breathtaking and even more dramatic at night when it is lit up. The location was not the best area but we found several little restaurants next to the hotel which were very good and the metro was a couple of minutes away. A very good hotel and great value for the money.

Warm and welcoming hotel in Athen
We can easy recommend Wyndham grand Athens hotel. They made us feel welcome, and the service was always excellent. The room, junior suite, had a very nice view to Acropolis, and the size was perfect for a family of 3. Spacious, clean and clever solutions for our needs. And the bar/ restaurant at the top is a really nice place to relax and get an overview of the city and Acropolis. For breakfast they offer a very good selection and service.

Nice
A quite nice hotel not far from the city centre of Athens.
Is not really 5 star but a good 4 star in my view.
Nice modern rooms, friendly staff and a cool located restaurant on the roof top with a view of the Akropolis.
Beware of the traffic noise, I had a room towards the street and the Greek like to honk their horns and the windows are not exactly thick and does not keep the noise out.

Excellent Service 5 Star!
We had an unexpected stay in Athens after a family became ill during a cruise. We were booked in the Wyndham Grand by the clinic treating my father in law. The hotel is very nice, very clean, safe. There are three or four good places to eat right across the street. The complimentary breakfast is huge and wonderful. The view from the roof top restaurant of the Acropolis is very beautiful.
While in Athens, I fell and sprained my ankle badly and was on crutches or in a wheel chair. I simply can not say enough about the staff at the Wyndham Grand. They took excellent care of me and my family. From the duty manager to the front desk agents, the bellman, the housekeepers, the room service, the door men, everyone was amazing. I would highly recommend the Wyndham Grand to anyone staying in central Athens.

Would not recommend - really disappointing
I have been staying at the Wyndham Grand this week and have been exceptionally disappointed and wish I’d paid more attention to the poor reviews - I thought people were being picky and over sensitive....I was wrong. I’d write a letter or speak to a manager but general attitude here is no one can be bothered, no one cares...

We arrived during a the end of a conference and went to check in - no queues at reception. However, reception were not what I would call welcoming and seemed more interesting in helping conference partakers who were pushing in front of me and my colleague asking questions or for taxis. Rather than asking my colleague and I to take a seat so they could deal with the onslaught, they allowed us to be barged in front of at the reception desk and really slow down our check in. After a reasonably long flight I would not say this was ok.

The rooms are ok - I asked to move rooms as me and my colleague were in inter-connecting rooms and could easily hear each other’s work calls through the door and I wanted a little privacy To be fair, they moved me but all the little perks in my original room (‘bowl of fresh fruit’.etc) no one had the foresight to move. I am giving this room two stars solely off the room. However, they are OK, not ‘5*’. Plenty of the fixtures and fittings are scratched, you get one courtesy bottle of water and that is it. Most hotels of this ‘class’ that is free now. In addition, coffee capsules which are normally free you get two free then have to pay 1.5 euro for each following capsule!? Absolutely mad.

The rooms are not sound proofed and you can easily hear the traffic, even with ear plugs. I am on the 8th floor and not on the roundabout next to the hotel which is busy. View if acropolis, though, is nice of course.

The air con is incredibly noisy, it woke me up every night so turned it off. Luckily it’s jot the summer...

However, the restaurant/bar here is absolutely atrocious when it comes to service. Really appalling and a reflection of the hotel overall. The staff simply cannot be bothered. First night, colleague and I went for dinner as it was late, and first impressions seemed good. Head waiter sat us and gave menus....he recommended a local wine. Good. Fine. However, there it ended....we waited ages to order anything despite being in an empty restaurant and four front of house staff working. When we did finally order, the attitude of the staff was just rude; this isn’t a cultural thing or anything lost in translation, just rude. Short. Sarcastic. I couldn’t fathom why? Food was ok, but no one came to clear our table. We waited for twenty minutes and wanted a dessert but no one came to clear table or ask if we wanted dessert...so we moved plates to another table as a sign but still nothing. We went to the bar and had a drink but that was it. Another night I had to go to the bar to order a drink despite being empty and it meant to be table service....and tonight, I sat in an empty restaurant for fifteen minutes before anyone came to take my order (despite four front of house staff). I was so frustrated I just left the restaurant and went across the road where the food was a third of the price, really tasty and service was warm and friendly. Go there if you stay here!!!!!

I work in the service industry and just found this hotel so off the mark and really disappointing - I don’t normally bother with negative reviews but I feel so strongly about this as they don’t seem to care. Common sense would be don’t leave people waiting for so long and make them feel like an irrelevance. If this hotel wants to be a real 5* or even 4* they need to sort the service issue.

Ps. A colleague stayed at the Wyndham residence across the road and said it was excellent, the opposite of this

Solid business hotel outside the city center, not 5 star
Stayed here for a couple of nights to do sight seeing. The hotel is located in Metaxourgio area about 20 minutes walking away from the city centre. Nevertheless, the area in between the hotel and the tourist center is very run down with lots of brothels and abandoned houses. Better to take the metro which is right outside the hotel. Supposingly the area is "up and coming", but at the very start of "up and coming".

Rooms could need an update. Although only two years old, the furniture looks quite used. In addition, the cleaning of the bathroom was not up to our middle European standards. Our first room had a bad smell in the bathroom and mold, the second one did not smell as bad as the first one.

Breakfast was good, but not what one would expect of a 5* hotel, although we felt the hotel is totally not living up to that standard we experienced in other 5* hotels in Greece (agree, star rating is achieved by services and facilities offered). Coffee was awful and made from concentrate. In case you prefer freshly brewed coffee, you need to pay extra (4 EUR for a double espresso).

The reception team was outstanding. Very warm and friendly welcome, as well as good recommendations for restaurants. Upon arrival they took the time to point out the places we should see during our sightseeing trip.

In the end, we would not book this hotel again and would look for a more centrally located hotel.

A wonderful stay with my two teenage boys!
We stayed for 2 nights during October half-term on way back from Cyprus. My boys are now 13 and 16 and I always look for the most upmarket option I can afford, that also suits their ages. This was a great option for a short city break with them. The room was lovely and cosy and my 13 year old loved staying in and making the most of free Wi-Fi. Cool roof-top bar with a pool and amazing views of the Acropolis, my 16 year old felt on top of the world and very grown-up! Breakfast was really good, with lots of options available to suit any taste. Ignore the poor reviews because of the neighborhood - those people have not lived and don't appreciate the diversity of life! We walked both nights from Acropolis / Syntagma square and loved the adventure and exploring the streets nearby (it's very safe). And if you really don't like walking around unfamiliar places at night, there is metro station next to the hotel and very affordable taxis just in front. I would recommend this place to anyone - whether it's a family / couple holiday or a business trip (and I do travel A LOT).

Prostorný, čistý dobře vybavený pokoj. Velké postele s kvalitními matracemi a lůžkovinami. Personál ochotný, milý a vždy k dispozici. Hotel je umístěn v blízkosti metra (50m) a do centra to je 3 zastávky. Díky tomuto ubytování byl pobyt v Aténách ještě mnohem lepší. P.S. vegetariánské zeleninové rolky byly úžasné :)

Φανταστική εξυπηρέτηση από όλο το προσωπικό. Πολύ εύκολο check in και check out.

Very good hotel
We stayed here, 3 of us as a family. Had a great room, lots of space and good facilities. We stayed for 4 nights, bottled water was replaced once so I guess 1 bottle per 3 nights. The towels and items were well maintained. The shower was very good. The hotel had an issue with a banging door from the stairs that the cleaners used every few minutes, we snapped in the end and told them it had to stop as was driving us mad, to be fair they had people looking at it within minutes.
The bar is nice with a great view, the breakfast was good choice. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
We stayed April second half, pool wasnt open so beware but to be honest it wasnt getting warm enough.
We had a dinner in the rooftop restaurant, it was nice with a lovely view but not amazing, food choice is quite small but it was good.
A few people have worried about the location, we found it fine, a walk down a few streets to the main areas. It is only a 1 minute walk round the corner to the metro so you always use that.
There is a great cake/coffee place at the back of the hotel (The Bread Factory). Just beware outside for dubious looking characters looking for opportunity to steal.
Top tip - if you dont want to go into the city in the evening, Mironi restaurant outside the hotel is brilliant. Excellent food, cheap wine and entertainment.

Not a 5 star hotel
Not a 5 star hotel. We stayed here for a week in may and while the hotel looked good on the TUI website it was a big disappointment. Firstly the location, while it was good for access to the metro the area is not safe was walking around at night. There is a brothel next door (pointed out by our taxi driver) and we found used needles from drug abuse on pavements outside. The hotel was full of corporate clients with several conferences going on while we were there, which meant the pool was swamped with people who were loud and intimidating and breakfast in the morning was overcrowded, it might have been better if these corporate clients had been catered for in the buffet area on the ground floor leaving those of us that were on holiday to enjoy our holiday.
Speaking of the buffet breakfast, it was cold always, we had booked an early trip on day and we’re hopefully expecting a hot breakfast as previous days was stone cold. Despite the fact that breakfast opens at 7am, it was still cold and not nice, I would expect more from a 5 star hotel. The dinning room was dirty and watching the staff clean tables I understood why!!, they were seen to push all crumbs etc from tables straight onto the floor!!.
The rooms were comfortable enough but we ran out of toilet paper one day and it took 24 hrs for it to be replaced. Also on another day the maid had emptied the bin but left it on the side. You are only given 2 free coffee in the room and then charged, again not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel and one bottle of water to last a week, unacceptable.
The hotel boasts on their website an a la carte menu, I could not find such menu anywhere in the hotel, the food that was offered was basic bar food, not a la carte standard. There is a fantastic restaurant opposite though where we went 4 nights in the week we were there.
Reception staff when we arrived offered no information about the hotel and didn’t take my husbands credit card details which became a problem on day 3 when in bar they refused to put our drinks on the room as credit had been stopped.
If you want to boast a 5 star rating then this hotel needs to seriously up its game.
One last point of interest was there were signs everywhere asking people to wear masks but the staff themselves wore them round their necks and from someone who works in health care especially during COVID times this was unacceptable.

Liked • Hotel was as expected for a central city hotel - very good standards.
Disliked • Breakfast was crazy before 8am until the masses left for their tours/cruise. A warning may have been good. It would be worth advertising the pool is not very big with limited seating - 3 days of our stay it was way too busy and we could t use it after our days out.

Liked • Good value . Staff very friendly. Very clean and newly refurbished.
Right next to a Red Tour Bus stop which means its a cheap way of getting around the major attractions.
Disliked • Fairly limited on food choices but quality and quantity very good.
Limited on wine choice to " local wines " so don't expect a wine list
The area of the hotel's location whilst safe is not the best as its a regeneration area
