Totally worth the extra expense
Stayed for a night with my girlfriend as a surprise to her. I booked the Junior Suite and the experience was amazing. The style of the whole hotel makes you feel like royalty and, even though I do not usually travel this way, I would recommend everyone to try this out for at least once! Included in the price is access to the indoors (or outdoors) swimming pool and to the saunas. While I have seen better and bigger pools and saunas, it is a very nice extra to further enhance this journey of yours as a King!

Always the best!
My last stay was January, 2019. I was there in 2008 and anxious to see how if fared through the hotel management transitions and the “Great Recession”. It is still wonderful. From the front desk, Conceirge, waiters at breakfast, sleeping rooms, amenities and helpful attitude of all the staff - you just can not beat it. The view of the
Acropolis is something to behold and you can enjoy it with breakfast, cocktails and dinner. Don’t miss this hotel if you are looking for a high end hotel in Athens. It’s just great.

Highly Recommended
The hotel is stunning with a beautiful décor and the Alexander Bar is one of the must do things.

Check in was prompt and courteous. Very attentive staff overall.

Rooms are nice, but slightly small and the carpet needs to go or be replaced.

Location is excellent and restaurants on the premises excellent.

Beautiful hotel with amazing view
A fantastic hotel right in the city center of Athens. 5* hospitality at its best. The roof top restaurant is where I had one of the best meals ever. The room was spacious and the bed extra comfy. Breakfast is also served at the roof top restaurant. Great variety of Greek delicacies and a relaxing ambience, ideal to start your day. The staff is super attentive and professional yet friendly and smiling.

Classic Hotel
Travelled May 2017.
We arrived during a protest and to learn our room was booked incorrectly bu our agent. The reception staff were very good with accommodating our expectations and ensured we were in the room we had requested through our agent, although we had to pay extra but that was ok as that is the room we initially expected to be booked. As there was tear gas filtering into the hotel and our room was not ready we were directed to the lobby bar and provided a complimentary glass of Champagne. The hotel itself was classic and spectacular, I could not fault it at all. Rooms well decorated and very clean. The breakfast was ample with plenty to choose from and the view to the Acropolis was fantastic. We had a suite that overlooked the square and parliament house and we could view the changing of the guard from our room. We enjoyed lunch in the lobby bar and also use to have a drink prior to going out for dinner it had a lovely vibe. Walking distance to most of the cool things to see in Athens and we always felt safe at night walking around even with the protests...which were only directed towards parliament house. We would definatley stay at this hotel again

The Glamorous Hotel Grande Bretagne
We spent a fabulous five nights at the glamorous Hotel Grande Bretagne. This superb grande dame of a hotel ticks all the boxes. A great location, superb historic architecture, beautiful high-quality interiors, amazing service and top-quality restaurants. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would not stay anywhere else in Athens. Highly recommended

Grand Greek Goddess
As good as it gets. Attention to detail, decor from a text book, staff that are competent and courteous with dignity and pride. Soft pillows, clean clean clean and in the heart of Athens. Worth every euro - what other hotels try and be and fail. Bravo Bravo.!

Arrange your taxi from airport ( Konstantinos was awesome - a yellow Mercedes limo for price of a crap local taxi) - seriously wonderful too.

Keep away from the demonstrations in town square - perfect location in the heart of Athens.

Rooms are quiet - even if Tarzan and Jane are playing next door. Painting colour schemes is stuff from text books.

This is European 5 star at its best - quality not just glitz and sucking up to guests for tips.

Just do it!

Hard to find better in Athens
Amazing rooftop Acropolis view, outstanding rooftop restaurant, great pool, plush rooms (if somewhat kitsch). The best part is the friendly, arranging, professional staff: I ran into a problem, several of them pursued me proactively to identify a satisfactory solution. I needed printouts for work, they materialized in my room 15 minutes later. It’s on the traditional side in terms of design but I love this hotel. Just plant more green stuff in the inner courtyard’s grounds, it looks really sad and lonely...

Ok place but not as hyped as the reviews suggest
First of all, this hotel is located right across the street from the Parliament, a very convenient location. Quality of service is good but not great. When we arrived at the hotel nobody offered to help with our four luggages. I really can’t call this hotel grand. The lobby is quite small and is always crowded. Not much public room to hang around. We have stayed at many luxury collection properties around the world. This one is below the average in my opinion. The view from the rooftop restaurant is great but the food option from the breakfast buffet is abysmal. Really, it is one of the worst buffet spreads I have experienced. It reminds me food offerings from the properties in the US. By the way, it’s new year’s eve today and no bar is open in the hotel! I would not recommend this hotel to my family and friends. Not worth the money. The Hilton Athens offers much better value. Although it is a little far from the Parliament but it is five minutes away by taxi.

First rate service and views “in the cradle of civilisation “
After a long flight, what a pleasure it was to arrive at this ”Stunning hotel”,The moment we walked through the door the welcome from the Doorman right through to check-in,was a lesson in old-fashioned service, myself, my wife and my mother were extremely fatigued from travelling, but straightaway our spirits were lifted.
Not only this we were delighted to receive an upgrade to one of the hotels
“Prestigious suites”and walking through the door our jaws dropped such was the beauty and opulence of the room or should I say rooms.
But the Icing on the cake has to be the dining facility on the eighth floor, The views are stunning and have to be the best in the city, such was the beauty, it took away the excellence of the food, Combined with the flawless service both for dinner and breakfast, the only downside was we only got stay for one night.
If in Athens there is only one place to stay

Anfang November 2021 dort gewesen.

If you're planning a trip to Athens, either a stay or a meal at the Grande-Bretagne is a must! The staff are attentive and scrupulous, discreet yet helpful. The concierge desk in particular will direct you to the best and most efficient pathways to fulfill your curiosities.
On the rooftop terrace, breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, including a small intimate bar. From the comfort of your table, watch the sun set over the Acropolis, and watch as the impressive pillars of the Parthenon slowly illuminate for a stunning light show.
The restaurant has an incredible pastry chef, which makes dessert not to be missed.
Truly an oasis and landmark in Athens
