We stayed at the Saphire House Antwerp for 3 nights, sharing our likes and dislikes.
Likes: Beautiful property in a historic building, great location, clean and fresh. The front desk staff and bar staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. We stayed in the Diamond junior suite which was comfortable and spacious. The rain shower was lovely. The plant based menu in the restaurant was good and the cocktails at the bar were great.
Dislikes: Housekeeping – they did not clean our room both full days we were there. I spoke to the hotel manager after the second miss, she was aware of the issue and was already planning to address it. When our room was eventually cleaned (after speaking with her), the housekeepers lacked the attention to detail that most 5 star properties have, such as winding up the iron cord, iphone cords, placing towels neatly on the shelf, opening/closing the curtains, to name just a few examples. We did not receive turn down service over any of the 3 nights we were there and when I mentioned it to the hotel manager, she said it was by request only but we still never received the service even after speaking with her. In summary, we appreciated the hotel but were distracted by the housekeeping experience. I would not consider this a 5 star hotel, at least not compared to other 5 star hotels I’ve stayed at across many countries and through the Marriott Brand such as St. Regis, Ritz and others like the Four Seasons. It is a lovely hotel, but they are experiencing some growing pains as they recently opened. Today, it feels more like a nice 4 star hotel but do think it has potential if they can work out the housekeeping (to include standard turn down service that does not have to be by request).
